I've recently cleaned my chain on my sv650, man I've never seen a chain this shagged in lube, took me 3 hours and 2 litres of paraffin to get it clean, also did where the chain runs, rear sprocket etc.

Now a round about since then, can't remember if was as soon as I had done it, there's been a weird noise coming from the back of the bike.

Sort of a crackling noise but spaced apart, really hard to describe, and ONLY at low revs, when for example short shifting to keep revs down, can only only hear it between 2-3k rpm.

You can not hear it at any point if put in neutral. Also it doesn't do it when coasting, so it seems just when under strain at low revs.

My theory is that the clean chain no longer has a cushion of soft built up chain lube to slap against and is now noisy.

Any ideas? Should I be worried...

Do you have a tight spot in your chain anywhere?

Chain too loose?
