NEVER seen a circlip 'fail' of its own accord.

Wasn't installed correctly.....epic fail.

Open ends @ 3 & 9 opposite the little gap bits.

General idea is to have the gap at 12 or 6. This way they shouldn't pop out so easily (ie, at 3 or 9 you have about half the length of the clip being prised off its seat by momemtum as the piston hits tdc or bdc)

All the best

As a point of interest....I had circlips in my RGV race bike start to fail within 300 miles...that's how often I did top end inspection/rebuilds. They didn't pop out as wear out. The gudgen pin was wearing its way thru the clips...oddly ones I'd bought from Grampian that were soft as hell it seems. Caught in time to prevent catastrophic top end failure but score marks were evident where they were starting to break up. Must say I've always trusted Grampian to supply good stuff for years and this may have been a bad batch....but back to oe ones from robinsons foundry after that!

I r potato. Doh!

Widened exhaust port a smidge & upped it by about 0.5mm too whilst i was there as I figure the cylinders trashed anyway. Will see what effect this has...if it runs then great, if not then will just have to purchase that Athena kit cb1 extracted a 20bhp dyno pull on.

As a learning excersize this is proving most helpful at minimal cost.

20bhp h100?? Really ?

I did a similar thing by getting a dremel tool (not a proper porting tool) into my KMX cylinder and grinding away aluminium dust for hours. The plating and bore was trashed so I can't have ruined it unless they do a lovely weld and re-plate job on it and then I find my lopsided porting makes the bike run cack.

I would get the re-plating firm to match and chamfer all the port windows anyway, and make the lop sided ports equal if they agree to touch a butchered cylinder that is.

I'm sure your H100 cylinder block would clean up with just a hone, and new piston and rings again. The 125cc big block top end does sound wheelie good fun though! Laughing
