Hi I have a piaggio zip 50cc 2 stroke 52 plate 15'456km on clock. I jus recently purchased a LEO VINCE ZX. Came with blue clutch springs and LEO VINCE orange rollers 5.3g. I'm currently running a leo vince sp3 40 mph top speed. I had the zx and the rollers and springs put on by a garage so all should of been done properly. When I got it back with my Zx chrome I couldn't even get to the end of the next car ahead wouldn't even move kick in nothing. My sp3 used to kill this what's going on I was thinking please someone get back to me so urgent merry christmas. Ps when I start the bike now there's like a rattling loud noise like something's getting thrown around my variator side like a washing machine

So you know, if you just title your post "NEED HELP NOW!!!!!" then we'll know that it's a Piaggo without you having to spell it out.

Either your garage ballsed it up, or you gave them a bag of spanners to fit. What else do you expect to hear? Put it back the way it was, stop pissing money away on your wheeled hairdryer, and start saving up for a 125.

Merry Xenumass.

What is it doing when your trying to ride it? Revving high? Not revving at all? Cutting out?

The main jet should be around a 66 with an after market pipe and a de-restricted 17.5mm dellorto carb. ( or at least somewhere in the ballpark )

The blue clutch springs will be to get the revs up before the clutch kicks in so that your in the pipe/engines optimum rev range.

The clutch springs do help on that setup. The Piaggio engines do like to rev.

Rollers are probably a bit heavy IMO, but it wouldnt stop it moving. I normally stick 4.5g rollers in with a de restricted 50cc standard cylinder and a Technigas Qtre or any other budget aftermarket pipe.

Although. Theres not alot of info to go on. I'm just basing ideas around it being a standard setup other than whats been said....

They haven't put it all back together correctly. Sounds like the starter gear might be the problem and that's also what's causing the rattling noise...

Does it kick start easily or does that also slip and grind?

Takes a few kicks. Its definatly not the exhaust the scratching clunking noise especially wen i rev which I was thinking rollers? Not put in correct but then why don't it start everytime like it used to. It's on the kick start side the crunching noise.

straight back to the garage with it - you put it in to get work done and now its worse than it was before.

dont even think about doing anything to it yourself now or the garage could turn around and say you ve messed it up and wash their hands of it.

I don't even want to let it run. It can't be the wrong exhaust for the bike ped parts clearly state. Piaggio zip 2 stroke 2000 onwards and the garage would of said straight away. It's gotta be the garage clearly not putting something on right. Lack of oil maybe ? But I can see it wen I look in the oil tank from a distance. Merry Xmas to you all help much Appreciated.

Could someone please verify a bell ringing sound everytime I start by the start button. I know tuning ya ped makes it a bit harder to start first time but mine never starts now. When before it went in the garage it started first time everytime even when it hadn't been ridden for 3-4 weeks on the coldest day would jus take some time to warm the engine. Thank you

Been a while since I worked on my ped but if the garage isn't an option, whip off the variator cover and you should see this:

https://www.sc-ooter.50megs.com/3variator.sized.jpg

I personally have a feeling that either the clutch or variator assembly hasn't been done up correctly/tight enough. While you are there, take off the clutch assembly and have a look at the rollers, they shouldn't be sloshing about too much, or worse still, one could be completely out of place.

*question* I'd have thought if any part of the variator assembly wasn't done up well it would be very hard for the starter to engage?

The rattling noise is possibly one of the fins on the variator assembly that has snapped off on installation (if the garage is small and doesn't have an impact gun) however I have no idea due not knowing the garage.

It is very hard for the starter to engage 5 6 times of bell ringing then starts takes only 1 or 2 kicks on kick start. Another thing the rollers provided was 5,3G 19x15.5 and piaggio soft blue springs. The rollers were the same colour as the ones they took out just not battered.

Take it back to the mechanic that ballsed it up. How long ago did you get the work done and how long did it work correctly for after you got it back?

Yesterday I got it done wouldn't even make it to the end of the road with the new zx rollers and springs I knew straight away it was wrong I turned back to head to the garage and with in 5 minutes the garage doors was locked and they was all ready to go home. My speedo don't work now it did before the garage messed with it. It was doing 40mph with. Sp3 on the way to the garage yesterday behind my girlfriend in her 1.4 ltr Peugeot then we tried again after the install i had to pull over to the road eventually it wouldn't even run. And every time i tried its a scratching horrible sound but even so the starter was fine first time every time now I'm lucky to get it going on the 6th time this is the first time I've ever had to use the kick start on my bike.

Tale it back as soon as they open again, do not try to work on it or start it.
If it is too far to push it or you can not take it on a trailer tell them to collect it from you.

I was arguing with him outside the garage I said to him this won't make it home what happened I broke down had to push for 20 mins. He wouldn't open the garage back up because he was late picking up his turkey. I really don't know where to go from here I'm only 20 I got charged 80.00 I got receipt just to put on a exhaust rollers and springs that I supplied. Was nearly as expensive as the exhaust.

Its not the exhaust thats the problem.....we know that.

The problem is when they changed the rollers and/or the clutch springs, SOMETHING wasnt put back correctly.
