I'm after a bit of advice....

As I use my bike daily to commute I've been looking at maintenance sprays that I can cover the bike in, panels and all in order to help prevent rust, parts degrading, etc... I want something that I can use all over the bike so that it's quick and easy to spray on without worrying about spraying things I shouldn't. Obviously the brakes, tyres etc wouldn't get sprayed.

I was thinking of applying it after I wash the bike every week so that's its kept in the best possible shape. I've looked at various products and they are market themselves as miracle products, GT85, ACF50 etc....

I was after some personal experiences. What do you think would work best for a quick spray over weekly?

ACF 50 Thumbs Up

Spray/brush/wipe on and forget......

My bike gets washed about twice a year with this stuff on. One major clean if I can be bothered in spring. Shocked

Another vote for ACF-50, the comparison tests they came out on top.

How ever the validity of the test is unknown to me

Used ACF 50, WD40, GT85, you name it. Always end up using GT85.

GT85 is definitely the best smelling - would be cool if Sure did a spray on deodorant using that odour.

ACF 50 is the stuff to go for if you're riding through winter. Otherwise, it's a bit much for day to day and does attract and hold the grime (while keeping it off the actual bike), so GT85/WD40 are good.

ACF50.

I spray on then buff with kitchen roll to leave a polished film.

Thanks for the responses everyone... Looks like it's between the ACF50 and GT85 for an all over maintenance spray then.

From what you've all said GT85 seems like a more regular treatment, and ACF seems like a longer term spray it on and forget about keeping your bike clean treatment.

As such would you say its best to use GT85 in the summer when I wash my bike weekly (ie cover the whole bike liberally with the stuff) and ACF once (or maybe twice) just before winter and then wash it all off when summer starts to rear its head?

Do either of these products effect decals, stickers, plastic trim etc or are they perfectly safe? I've read varying accounts online and Id prefer to ask people I know actually use the stuff! Laughing

Seriously - just spray it with diesel using one of those plant misting sprayers from b&q for £2. To all intents and purposes that's all GT85 is. Except it's one thousandth the price.
