Revs high after run on choke?

Rode into work this morning (Cbr 600 F3)
like a numpty I had left the choke on 3/4 of the way (16 miles, some fast/cruising/filtering).
Realising my mistake I pulled the choke lever and the rev's shot to 5,000 rpm!
I put the choke on just enough to bring the RPM back down but a few times on the way pulled it all the way back and it was still rev'ing high (kinda like cruise control!).

The bike was riding fine before although it has spent a good week or two sitting outside

Could a spirited ride on the choke cause any lasting damage?

any thoughts would be much appreciated.

There's usually a fast idle thing (technical term) on the same cable as the choke - just pulls the throttle open a wee bit more to help warm the engine up. This could be stuck?

I think lasting damage is unlikely, but something might have got stuck due to it being in a certain position when it got hot and expanded.

Check everything is working smoothly and lubed when cold, and you should be fine.

Cheers for the input fellas.
I think something may have got stuck but a manic wiggle session seemed to sort the problem out...
It does seem to have a tight spot so will investigate for any fouling down there.
