I came back from a ride on my Mk1 speedy recently, left it on the sidestand to find that after a couple of minutes it began leaking coolant from the coolant cap. I know the level was fine before I set off. Any thoughts?

Long ride on a hot day. The fan did kick in which is a bit worrying otherwise I'd just change the thermostat thingie. I'm going to drain it all down, flush it and refill and see if that cures it... ____________________ Now - Speed Triple, old ratty GS550, GSXR750M

It was the cap to the expansion tank...
I'm going to bleed the system and put in fresh coolant to see if that helps - the stuff that came out looked like leaky bum-water... ____________________ Now - Speed Triple, old ratty GS550, GSXR750M

Sorted. I undid the radiator cap and a drain bolt, stuck a hosepipe in and flushed the lot. It took 10 minutes before the water ran clear. I don't know if my method of bleeding is the correct one, but I took the expansion tank cap off and ran the engine until air stopped bubbling out. Just need to get some antifreeze now and top it up... ____________________ Now - Speed Triple, old ratty GS550, GSXR750M
