Well,
after all the thrills of a fork seal that just would not budge I'm after another fork (second hand preferably).

Problem is, ebay only has pairs Neutral

could anyone give me any leads on how\where to source a single fork?

I would take this opportunity to convert the cbr600 f3 to USD forks but as its not a straight swap and I need the bike as backup transport more than I have time to diddle the conversion at the moment its going to have to be just swap out the fork Neutral

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Best regards

Probably only pairs as it is normal to replace a pair as a matched set. You could wait for someone like you selling one. Smile

Been there. Done it. Don't want to do it again.

Your turn!

But before the possibility of me going over old ground, can you explain what you've tried so far?
Obviously the standard slide hammer/WD/boiling water procedures.
Anything else?

Its worse than that...
After many fruitless hours I lost my rag and screw driver'd it out.
Hands up, my bad and indeed I found a nick in the stanchion.
Worked it back with some 2,000 wet-dry/scotch bright, changed the seals, threw it back together and left it in a huff.
Took the bike up and down the road, on/off the breaks to depress the forks but after just a few gos it was pooling around the dust seal.
Wiped it off and repeated the cycle a few times and it shows little to no signs of slowing...

Literally would have to wipe it at the door of the MOT place but would probably still weep just pushing the forks by hand.

Either which way I need this bike to be working and safe and a pissing fork is no good Neutral

Have fired off an email to a breakers with a few f3's but it may have to be a pair at this rate and then oh, how ironically I'll be selling a single fork haha...

Will also have a look at re-chroming as the other fork is just fine...

Wish I had the time for a USD conversion but I can't afford to have this bike off the road to much longer Sad

Best regards

Had a similar issue with a friends VN800, the seals hadn't been replaced for about 14-15 years and were leaking badly. I'd said how easy it was to replace them without stripping the forks down and proceeded to get tore in to 1 with the screwdriver.... almost 2 hours later the stubborn little bastard released its grip (and that was tapping Rolling Eyes the screwdriver with a hammer)..... OK so after about an hour I started thinking the seals were a different design, but it turns out they were just stuck solidly in place

Photo of the damaged chrome? a light sand with 1500 to take off any burr it will probably be ok.

New fork seals almost always weep, and I only use genuine ones. I recommend a small amount of grease on the seal lips before fitting and a pea sized amount spread around the stanchion under the dust seal. This has always, 10+ times, worked for me, as a singe time, very long term fix.. try it, wont cost anything.

Its not showing any sign of slowing but I only changed the one so will get the fork off again and try with the other, throwing some grease in there as well.

Will get back with new when there's news!

Best regards

You could contact your local breakers. The forks will be standard on several models-you need the diameter and length.

Alternatively, you can get the fork rechromed and ground down professionally.

Gone done found a CBR 600 f3 left hand fork.
Eventually pitched up on ebay for only £60?!

Called round a few breakers a while back and they were a bit silly though.

Wanted £100 for a second hand stanchion (brand new after market part £112 @ weemoto) and > £250 for each full fork...

Maybe understandable as they would be left with a second fork that's harder to shift but kind of pricing themselves out of the market there.

Anywho.

Don't give up, just takes time Very Happy

600 back on the road soon. Much excite!
