Hi guys,
After not using my bike for a few months whilst at uni, I took it for a spin down my road today only to find that the back brake was sticking on once applied.

I took the brake apart and cleaned everything, paying particular attention to the pistons. I sprayed them with a healthy amount of WD40. Once the break was applied and released, everything seems to be fine with the piston coming out then going back in to the usual position. However once it's been applied a few times in quick succession, causing the piston to come far out, it's very hard to get back in again (I only managed to do it with the help of a big screwdriver and a lot of force!), but then sometimes it would go back in with relative ease.

Any of you have any idea what you think might help?

Cheers, Ry.

Well, those were not smart things to do. Neutral

When you sprayed the calliper with the WD40 the seals in the calliper might have swollen a bit. Thumbs Down

Also, and I know some won't agree, you should never require ''a lot of force'' to push the pots/pistons back into the calliper. That being said, it's time for a rebuild of your calliper. Thumbs Up

Side note: My personal experience; every motorcycle I bought had a stubborn rear brake. All I ever did to make the rear brake work again was, I just started to use it more often and it never took long and the brake was fully operational. Then I just changed the brake fluid and that was it.

new seals required.

Often when the dust seals perish they start to break up and get stuck down the side of the piston making the piston hard to move.

replace your seals and only ever put silicone or red rubber grease anywhere near your brakes as they're rubber safe.

I'm guessing it's a Suzuki?

If so they have a habit of getting a build-up of crud in the bottom of the seal groove. I have made a tool for scraping the oxidisation out but one of those skinny brass wire wheels on a dremel would probably do a great job. Otherwise scrape them clean by hand.
