Oops, I read that as 4x4 and reflexively Off Topic'd. My bad. Embarassed [frantically Thumbs Up rates other posts]

Carbed, right? It should bump, although I'd prefer to roll it downhill or have someone else push it rather than try to jump aboard. A charger or jumper cables are cheaper than replacing fairings.

But do you reckon the battery is dead? Workmate leaves his Bandit outside over winter and it fires on the button every spring. It's like a cockroach, it just won't die.

Have you got access to a multimeter? I've managed to bump start my 4C8 when it was reading 11.8V across the terminals. Horn would still sound loudly but wouldn't crank up. Wouldn't hurt to give it a try, but a small decline would help you get to 10mph.

Took 3 attempts on a fairly steep hill to get my MT-03 going, then the battery wouldn't hold a charge (although it had been sat for ages). Honestly I'd just take the battery off & try charging it/get a new one if you need to. Bump starting a bike's dodgy, people have killed themselves doing it Confused

Cheaper to get a multimeter and a charger than drop that imo.

I was going to say, as with the above

Arrow Make sure you have your choke on. I was kicking myself when my XR125 would fire up after 2 attempts on a hill. Then flicked the choke on and it fired into life Rolling Eyes Wink

Arrow Use 2nd gear instead of 1st. Less likely to lock the back wheel up when you disengage your clutch.

Arrow Compared to singles and twins, IL4s don't have serious amounts of compression that would make it difficult to bump, so M.C. that would be why your bike took 3 attempts (battery condition permitting).

I had to bump start the ZZR with a load of luggage tied down to the pillion seat and it won't go into 2nd when stood.

Running along with it, dropping the clutch but ready to grab it again did the job quite easily, but I was re-starting after fuel so the bike was warm which probably helped.

I wouldn't try jumping aboard

I was helping a young lad at work try and bump start his Triumph one day after he left his lights on. Nearly killed me, an hour of pushing it round our yard. The combination of a fuel pump that wouldn't prime and an immobiliser that wouldn't deactivate was a real pain. Ended up pushing it out to the road, cutting the power lead off an old tv to fashion some jump leads and then jumping from my wife's chinky scooter.

Started first try with a jump. Got something you can jump it off?

If the battery has enough Volts it will bump.
(If the fuel system and get the correct amount of fuel to the combustion space.)
5 months is not critical to a good battery. But may be bad if the battery is/was in poor condition prior to storing the beast.

You can only fail or win.
