Heated grips on a YBR

Hi,

I received my cheap ebay heated grips the other day and I'm thinking how to connect them up. I'll take pics later when I'm home but I thought I'll get some advice first..

They apparently require my handles to come off in order to fit, how do I do that?

They have an open positive and negative cable for the power, if I want them powered with the ignition, how can I find where to tap these wires into?

Probably a silly question, but how do I tap it safely/securely?

How to physically replace the grips will depend on the grips and the bike.

The left grip should just slide off. By "slide", I mean that you can get it off by main force, twisting it to get it started, squirting WD-40 under it, levering a screwdriver under it, praying to Kek, or whatever works. Then replace with the heated grip.

The right, you'll have to open up RHS switchgear. You'll find that the RHS grip goes into it, and then the throttle cable hooks onto that. Detach the cable, remove the grip, and replace with the piece on the far right. Hook the cable back on, check everything works OK, then push the rest of the grip over it - it's in two pieces so that you can orient it so that the wiring isn't strained or fouling anything when the throttle is wide open or closed.

It'll be straightforward once you get stuck in.

My heated grips were the snide Chinese cheap things that wrap over the existing grips.

Fitted to a relay that uses the switched live from the rear brake light switch.

Worked great for a few weeks, until the swtch got wet an went green shocking (get it...?) quickly

Ayup.

The ones that came with my bike were all tacky and gooey, so I removed them. they were wired into the headlight I didn't take a picture unfortunately but they were deffo driven by the headlight wires.
