Hi
I had something similar on a Freccia. The valve would open when you turned the ignition on but not close (so the next time you turned the ignition on it did nothing). The problem was the control unit for the power valve.
I think what happens is that the power valve cables get badly adjusted and put a large strain on the motor. The motor draws its power through the control unit and I think it just burns it out. I understand that on late bikes Cagiva fitted a fuse to this circuit to try and prevent this problem.
All the best

Hi
Suspect you have blown the control unit. It would not surprise me if the power valve cables are wrongly adjusted so the power valve motor has tried to open the valve further than it can, thus drawing a large current. Suspect the fuse helps, but sometimes you get unlucky and burn out part of the control unit.
Bang goes £200+ at new prices.
All the best
