Hi all,

My NT650 doesnt seem to be able to go into neutral while the engine is running, I have to turn the engine off (or stall it) before i can change into neutral, when the engine is off it changes perfectly fine.
All other gears work fine.

any idea what could be causing this issue?

If it's an NT650 is it a shaft drive? If it's a BROS then it's chain, and I'd check the chain adjustment. If it's a shaftie, then I have no idea I'm afraid. Maybe change the oil?

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

First thing I'd check is the clutch cable adjustment

Thank you for the replies,
It is a drive shaft model.

I noticed when i brought it that clutch cable was fraying at the engine end, so i already had the intention to replace and adjust it, so i will see if that makes a diffrence.

The bite point was very low on the clutch as well (although wasn't sure if that was just because its a bigger cc than i am used to as it is my first bike above 125, or because its frayed)

I'm not using it, only had a quick test ride around the farm when i picked it up haha, this is when i struggled to get it into neutral and the seller said about it not working properly.
i haven't got my full licence yet, so still on my 125 Thumbs Up Laughing

I think there's a little bit of drag due to clutch not clearing fully so gears are being pressed together when engine is on.
You might get it to work during the second or two unloading drive when decelerating.
TBH a lot of bikes are tricky at times and there's a knack you eventually do without thinking.
