Hi everyone, hope you’re well.

I’ve inherited a Honda Fes Swing 125 2008 from a friend, and I’m desperate to fix it.

My friend said the issue started suddenly one day when he was driving, the bike suddenly died. It did struggle or bog down, it just died. He started it again briefly, but it died minutes later and never started again.

I done some research into possible issues and assessed the bike (I am a complete novice, however I have an interest in gaining skills in fixing mopeds).

I had a quick look over the bike. When turned on, the dashboard and lights/ indicators all work. I replaced the spark plug and checked for spark, but I couldn’t see any spark coming from the spark plug. When I try to start the bike, a fast drumming like noise comes from the relay. I have attached a video of the noise. I believe this may indicate where the fault is coming from.

The bike starts from a remote key, the electric start button on the handlebar was disconnected by the previous owner, I’m not sure if this has something to do with it.

Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.

From the research I have done, I assume it’s likely it is an electrical fault rather than air/ compression, as the engine doesn’t even start.

Thanks, Toby.

the clicking noise sounds like it is the starter solenoid. If theres not enough juice in the battery it doesnt latch and will go into a latch/nolatch/latch doom cycle, which is the clicking noise.

this can be either flat battery due to age/non use
or flat battery due to charging circuit faulty (can only easily test this with the bike running)
or starter solenoid faulty
or starter motor faulty.

and its happened before

It very likely has flat battery so needs charging or you could try it with jump leads from another vehicle.
If it spins over on starter after that at least it isn't seized.
Electrical problems are probably most likely.
Could just be loose or damaged wire.
