Posted: 18:27 - 26 Oct 2004 Post subject: Throttle cable or blown engine? |
 |
|
Since my crash, my bike is running strange..
It starts with some throttle, and is really unresponsive under 4k, then it flies up in revvs idle, when riding it, it splutters under 4k and after that its totally normal, acts how it should do.
When the bike was on the floor, the back wheel was in the air and the throttle cable stuck out, so it was revving really high for about 3-5 seconds.
Could the engine have blown? Or could it be a problem with the throttle cable? I managed to ride the bike home after the accident, but under 4k, it is really unresponsive - twist throttle when its about to die and a second later the revvs raise quickly, then splutters and dies.
Any ideas?

Hi
Would expect a throttle cable being damaged could be felt, and should not affect throttle response (just how hard you have to pull the throttle).
Possible you have damaged the engine. Electrics often either work or don't. I would hope that it would be carb related. Might be worth taking the carb off and apart and checking it out to make sure nothing is dislodged.
All the best
