i cant believe the cheek, i was happily filtering down a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooong queue, with plenty of room between me and the right hand lane when i here none other than the fuzz, well at first i thought it was just some check or something general, but when he said if i catch you doing that again i will have you..... well!!!! i mean i see the police bikes doing it on the promenade every day. This must have been about 6 months ago now, and i also saw someone else get pulled yesterday. |

I once had an unmarked traffic car flash his popup 'police' sign at me whilst filtering through stationary traffic on the Huntingdon bypass. Given that he was stuck right in the middle of about 5 miles of stationary vehicles, I made sure to wave on my way past. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. Well if I get pulled for filtering safely I'll be telling what the officer to do ... .
It bet they really only pulled you because they were pissed off they couldn't.
Binge it is actually her fault as she should be looking if its clear or not, if it isn't clear you don't turn. It's not really his fault aslong as he was doing it safely but you do kinda ask for it, but life would be boring without risks . |

With the sensible head on, the best thing would be to ask what the problem is then calmly explain that you did not cross any solid white lines or cause any other road users to adjust their driving and as such were not breaking any laws or causing a hazard.
They will give you a producer and a load of waffle then send you on your way. If they get stroppy/bad attitude, write a letter of complaint to their boss.
Giving them the finger is liable to get you arrested on a trumped up charge under the criminal justice act (which pretty much bans you from being alive if the police decide they don't like your face).
Obviously, if you crossed a white line or passed on some zig-zags it is time to grovel. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

Was filtering blatantly today with about 10 police around the side of the road road.
Dunno they were doing some random checks on cars or something...
Just did it calmly. Fine |

To the best of my knowledge, according to California law, local bikers can filter through stationary traffic as long as they don't overtake the car in front.
Been spied filtering through moving traffic once or twice, but never been pulled for it. Also been seen waiting at the front of the queue with a car on either side, but not while pulling out in front of them. Just to play it safe, if I pass a marked cop car on my way through, I'll pull in to the first space large enough to accomodate me and my bike. No sense pushing it... ____________________ https://www.bikepics.com/members/californiarookie/04gsxr600/

My personal experience was when a driver pulled a U-turn in stationary traffic without indicating or checking his mirrors. I hit the side of his car.
After much discussion with his insurance company it went 50/50 (he paid half my costs and I half his). My damage was much more than his, on paper, so I got a fair enough deal. I probably could have pushed it further but insurance is sooo expensive I did not want to get my company involved at all.
Just goes to show though, don't give up if you think you were right, fight your corner with the other insurance company and you will do better than if you just leave alone (they wanted me to pay for everything!) ____________________ Travelling around the world...a bit at a time. I'd like to see a copper in London try and stop some courier bikes from filtering. It would most likely start a riot... ____________________ "It's all about dislocating expectation"

My best filtering moment was when I was on the North Circular road in London, filtering behind two traffic policeman, between lanes 2 & 3. They were going at a 'regulation' 10-15mph. They both saw me in their mirror and pulled into lane 3 and waved me through! Amazing! ____________________ Using a mobile phone while driving a car should be made a capital offence! |

i havn't been stopped yet, bearing in mind i bomb it through only if theres at least 1mm between mine and the cars mirrors . if i was to get stopped i'd prolly get cocky and ask them who they think they are for stopping me just for filtering, the w*nkers just like to feel they have the power. idiots. |
