Hi

Rear caliper on a Bandit? They are well known for seizing in place.

Order some new pins first (hopefully the dealer will keep them in stock).

When I had this problem one suggestion was to drill a small hole in the caliper on the side the pin goes into (one side the hole goes through, the other side it is blind) and then try and use a punch through the hole to drive the pins out. That didn't work.

More success was with using a Dremel to cut a section out of each of the pins so that each was only seized in place at one point.

All the best

Keith

Hi

You can try drilling a small hole. Afraid that did not work for me. They are pigs.

All the best

Totally agree with Keith on this - the pins on my 1200 Bandit were a complete arse to get out every time. Ended up doing exactly what Keith said, cut them in half and then they are easier to get out. Thumbs Up

If (as I think they are) the pad pins on Bandit calipers are the same as those on the SV there is a bloke on an SV forum making stainless ones which should be less prone to seizure. I intend to buy some soon. After my pins managed to get themselves extremely well stuck in place I now make sure they are well covered in copper slip, and each time I give the bike a clean I try to make sure I rotate them a little bit, just to keep them moving. The link for the post is:

Just realised it is a couple of months old now, but perhaps if you ask he might still be doing them.

If you wanted to, someone posted an idea for a way to make your own version of stainless pins here:
