The RR doesn't come with an alarm as standard. It has Honda HISS immobiliser but not an alarm.

i want an Alarm, but only as a detterent, so a cheapish one,
plus is someone really wants your bike, they will get it, no matter what alarm you got.

Alarms won't stop dedicated pro. But does he want your bike?
If it's a cider charged ned/chav then the noise will deter him.
I think most alarms have a built in battery which sounds the alarm horn when the wires are cut
But I have been proved wrong once.

My brother has a paging alarm. Pretty useful if it doesn't false much. I believe you can buy an alarm that texts you. These are useful if it is out of sight but nearby (lots of thefts happen when you are close by).

I have an alarm and it seems to help out. Though not enough people ask questions if someone is loading it on the back of a van.

An alarm really exists purely to alert you that someone's messing with your bike.

It might scare chancers off, it won't scare professionals off. But you running outside brandishing a shotgun might.

Fortunately when some scum tried to nick my bike, the alarm went off and they legged it, obviously realising that a residential street with houses on both sides wasn't the most subtle place to be loading into the back of a transit.

I've got a pager now as I'm not within earshot of the alarm.
