I assume your asking wether a standard 125cc barrel can be bored out to 170 cc ??

If so

"computer says no" Laughing (been waiting to use that lame line for a while now)

There is no where near enough room to bore out a 125 to 170... its like roughly a 40% capacity increase and the most a normal barrel can be bored out is by 2mm which is not much :S

Just stick with the 125 and save up for the 170 kit or buy a bigger bike Question

yea, if not done right will make it really unreliable and will need new gears if you want higher top speed, really no point and you havnt passed yet!!

yea im sure you could bore it out a bit but you make ruin its reliability, also everything on your bike was built for a 125cc not a 170cc, parts could fail if it was uprated, im sure most wouldnt i just think getting a igger bike so much of a better idea, esp when 2ts ate involved Thumbs Up

I wouldn't buy a big bore kit, you normally keep the standard head and crank case, though a dt125 may require a new head. The extra power will require a reinforced crank shaft and con rod (or it is at least a good idea to buy and fit a strengthened one) although it will run on a standard one. It will also put more stress on the bearings, and you'll have to increase the jet size or get a bigger carb. Replacing the chain and altering the final drive ratio would be a good idea, too. A new exhaust may be needed aswell.

If you can't do the majority of the above, especially the carb and exhaust, then you will probably become acquainted with "Bang Fizzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz"

My mates DT125 (pic of it on my website) had a 170 kit on it, and that went like fook Very Happy It was only a field bike, but my god, it flew, and wheelied for England.

He left the gearing as standard too, for accelaration Thumbs Up

Don't know about reliabilty, but they seem pretty indestructible Mr. Green
