No need to go back, cost to much to go back and they have found out all they need to know about the moon.
Twelve American astronauts walked on the Moon between 1969-1972. No human being has been there since, so why go back now? The renewed American interest in the Moon and Mars may have been stimulated by the highly visible, decidedly successful, first manned spaceflight by China on October 15, 2003. China said it plans to send an unmanned probe to orbit the Moon in 2005, unmanned landers returning soil and rocks from the Moon a few years later, and astronauts to land on the Moon in the not too distant future.
NASA has created an Office of Exploration Systems to oversee creation of new rockets and transport ships to fly people to the International Space Station, the Moon and Mars. ____________________ "Its Better To Burn Out Than Fade Away!!!!!!" "Lifes a bitch and then you Die"

The technology is so much more advanced now, than in the 70's. If could land on the moon 30 years ago, why have'nt we been back?

Funny enough the american government recently announced they will be returning and setting up a small colony winthin the next 10years (i think it was 10, maybe less..)
The space race was extreemly important, they certainly would have had motive to fake it, but doubt they did.. ____________________ >RidingSkills<->Tech Tips<->MyBikes< |

I've been through all this before.
Of course they landed on the moon. They had the will, they had the skill and they had the technology.
Something that is important to note is that electronics in the sixties may well have been less advanced (analogue transistors etc) but it was a LOT more resistant to radiation than modern computer/integrated circuit technology. They aren't allowed to do anything important on the Shuttle laptop in space because it might get a calculation wrong!
If they went back to the moon, the cheapest way would actually be to reinvent the wheel and do exactly as they did back in the sixties. This is because the radiation proof integrated circuit simply does not exist!
No one has advanced in rocketry in the last forty years, simply because there has been no need. No more nuclear missiles, no more cold war. No more cold war also meant no more budget for Nasa.
As far as the 'Did they fake the moon landing' programme goes... have a read of this:
https://www.badastronomy.com/bad/tv/foxapollo.html
An addition that I will add that isn't mentioned in that site is that the programme argues that the moon lander did not leave a crater in the ground. Well... the moon lander needed two thousand pounds of thrust to land on the moon. The Harrier GR. MK3 makes somewhere in the reigon of 24,000 pounds of thrust. Does that leave a crater? does it heck!
Incidentally, they are having difficulty replacing the shuttle at the moment because all of the electronics are burning out. They can't replace it like for like because no one makes that stuff any more. So all they are doing is bodging it all together, and taking a laptop up and bungeeing the laptop to the Shuttle bulkhead. If anything goes wrong, they have to initiate re entry quickly, and then use the laptop for navigation once they are away from the radiation of space (IE in the upper atmosphere).
Oh, and the first site that Whosthedaddy posted starts on about UFO's at the bottom... the 'real footage' of UFO's taken by the apollo astronauts!
The second site is a good read though! ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F

I tend to believe what i've grown up with, that man landed on the moon. I'm happy believing that as it's done me no harm so far. Ignorance is bliss ____________________ "One moment can change a day, one day can change a life and one life can change the world." Siddhartha Gautama

All of the "evidence" presented in any website saying that the moon landings were faked can be easily disproved. Look a bit further on the internet, and you'll find it.
Of course, the evasion of bedrock evidence is standard fare for conspiracy theorists. If pressed they would doubtless claim that all of the the true evidence relating to the moon landings have been planted or manufactured, but they can't even prove such a claim plausible, let alone true beyond a reasonable doubt.
The topic's been done before: https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=33405
I don't think it's any vague coincidence that on average the people who think the moon landings were faked are the more dim and uneducated members of society.
last time it was discussed, carvell wrote: | I hate it when this debate comes up, it's pathetic.
That programme on channel five was taken from FOX Channel in America, where it was aired a couple of years ago. Needless to say it was complete bollocks, there are photos and evidence disproving all of the stupid claims made in that programme.
The sheer number of poeple that would have to be in on it, and the time since the landings, if it was a hoax, someone who was involved would have said in about 1975, given some proper evidence, and made a few hundred thousand out of it.
Bendy also makes a good point, if it was faked, why do it another siz times.
The following URL contains some information on the programme that was aired on channel 5. It was originally aired on February 15th 2001 in the US, the one aired on channel 5 was exactly the same.
https://www.badastronomy.com/bad/tv/foxapollo.html
Read the entire thing before commenting on the programme again.

Also look at the link above, it contains some pictures that people who believe the rubbish about the pictures being faked might like to see.

Some more information and links on the URL above.
The US did land on the moon, now get on with your lives, kthnxbye. Smile |

i like to think that they did land on the moon however since it was the cold war and they were in a space race between russia (who got into space first) there was a big motive for them to fake it.
i also dont understand why landing on the moon was better than going into space, media during the war i think ... ____________________ 99 RS125 --> 02 SV650s --> 03 Speed Four --> 92 RXS100 --> 93 CB400sf --> 01 CB600f Hornet |
