Gave blood today. Think it's my 17th donation, so it's hardly something I'm inexperienced of.
First off when she stabbed my finger she cocked up the bloody dropper thing, so she stabbed me again (apparently the hole had healed over quickly? ).
Next, she gets me on the bed and shoves the needle in. This time it hurt a load more than normal, and she said "You OK? I've just punctured one of the valves in your vein. I can feel it twitching." Marvelous!
Finally, when she pulled the needle out, I got a cold sweat and the urge to throw up on her. haha
Apparently I was dehydrated, which caused the feint feeling, dizzyness, clammyness etc.
Anyway, what normally takes 20 minutes took the best part of an hour, and now I feel utterly rubbish.
I just hope it's somebody who really deserves it if my blood is used. ____________________ <Simple> no I'm shaven Jon

She was a fat bird with bleached hair, enough makeup on to make her face orange with a distinct line around the edge where the makeup stopped, and a really annoying accent. ____________________ <Simple> no I'm shaven Jon

Unless for some reason she really does think that her makeup looks good like that? ____________________ <Simple> no I'm shaven Jon

If you're concerned about the sickness maybe you should ring the blood donor helpline on 0845 7 711 711.
I know how you feel about the vein valves. When I went to do my bone marrow thingy recently it took them four goes to get a canula in without hitting a valve. That stung. But I did have two nice nurses comforting me while they repeatedly stabbed me, so I can't complain too much ____________________ Monster m600

well done mate, i wish i could give blood as my accident was a real eye-opener but if you ever recived blood you can never donate...ever. This is because (if you dont know, though you probably do ) CJD or something.
i hope a test is developed soon as must be a lot of people where their life was save due to other peoples generosity and want to return the favor. Would incase the blood supplies a lot i think
also glad you go so regurally, so many people who just cant be bothered, wished i had before  ____________________ 99 RS125 --> 02 SV650s --> 03 Speed Four --> 92 RXS100 --> 93 CB400sf --> 01 CB600f Hornet |

Feeling fine today.
Must have just been dehydration (as the fat ugly nurse said it was ) and my arm has stopped hurting too.
I donate 3 to 4 times a year. Hmm... maybe you had some of my blood after your accident! ____________________ <Simple> no I'm shaven Jon

That's awful!
How is she now? Will she always have arthritis or is it something that will get better as she gets older? ____________________ <Simple> no I'm shaven Jon

We took her out of Darlington NHS care and paid for a private consultation at another hospital.
In Darlington, you get a junior to see you, followed by another muppet, then a pediatric consultant, then a GP etc. Each time you have to repeat the same story in broken english so the foreign doctors can understand.
At Middlesbrough, 1 appointment contained a GP, a nurse, a pediatric consultant and child physio. A diagnosis was obtained from all which was conclusive and treatment administered.
It took about 4 months for all the swelling in her hip joints to go with the correct medicine and exercise. Morale of the story, don't ever go to Darlington Memorial Hospital.
In fact, just to reiterate my point about DMH, here's another story:
Back when my wife was 6 weeks pregnant, she was admitted to A&E with severe stomach cramps. She got a cubicle after about half an hour and we gave the info to the nurse. Careful to explain about the pregnancy she made notes and off to fetch a Dr.
In came the junior Dr, about 14 year old and could speak reasonable english. He read the notes made by the nurse and diagnosed menstrual cramps.
My exact words "Are you for real? Can you not read the bit that says 6 weeks pregnant?"
He put down the board and muttered something and off he went. After about 30 mins a nurse came in and had to show a Dr how to take blood. Not inspiring further confidence in the service...
The consultant came in about 4 hours later as my wifes pains worsened. His exact words were "Because of your high temperature you've probably lost this baby, but don't worry you are young enough to have another"
And at that he went.
Needless to say everything that they say we now double check with another Dr. |
