Changing body jewellery.

I currently have a piercing with a ball closure ring though I want to change this to a barbell as I plan on getting the surrounding area tattooed.

Is going from a curve to a straight thing going to hurt or aggrevate the piercing or do I need to get a curved barbell?

it depends where it is. Ive changed my Anti-tragus from ring to bar and hurt big time and it started acting like it was newly pierced. Though my others have been fine when ive changed the rings

Should be ok. Make sure you go for the same size bar. When removing make sure lubricated. I'm sure you already know the Savlon spray is your friend for cleaning piercings Thumbs Up

As mentioned, if it site has healed (and is the sort of piercing that doesn't flair up for no reason) changing it over shouldn't be a problem, but those odds would be improved by going from a ring to curved barbell rather than from a ring to straight barbell. Is there any reason why you want to go to a straight bar?

If it's a nipple piercing, barbells are pretty well suited to them.

I think it'd look tidier with a straight bar, especially if I did get a small tattoo around it.

Also the ring can catch sometimes and can be unpleasant. Thumbs Down

I just thought a curved bar would be more suited to it as it's never had something straight in it before.

I dunno... probably don't know as much as I should about these things.

And yeh, that Savlon Spray is awesome.

Thanks again, I think I'll try it and hope for the best but it should be alright as it is healed and behaves.

I used to clean my tongue bar in my contact lens sodium peroxide solution for a while to get rid of any debirs that may have built up and then rinse well under the tap.
