Quick update. I drilled the engine mount out in the end and removed the exhaust studs. The engine is cleaning up nicely, wire brush is really getting all the crap off. The paint is too knackered on the underside and thought I'd go for a colour change. Decided on PJ1 satin black.

I painted the sump today just to see what the paint was like:

Will get some more pictures of the engine tomorrow. I'm liking the satin black so far Very Happy Should hopefully have all the engine painted this week.

Been busy at work so haven't had the time to do much to this recently. Engine still looks the same (paint wise) but is now all degreased and doesn't have all the shit on it thanks to the dremel wire brush attachment.

Hopefully get it painted end of this week if work eases off.

I was hoping people had forgotten about this thread! Laughing

I haven't touched it since that last update, 4 1/2 months Shocked. Work has been mega busy so it was left for a while, then I bought a CB250 with what I thought was a simple carb problem, which it was not, so that drained my time, and now the bloody RSV is playing up, demanding more of my time.

If people have a genuine interest I might have to pull my finger out Laughing

Rob you didn't revive this thread because of a certain little brother of mine did you? He keeps pestering for it.

No room to work on it. The CB250 should hopefully be gone this month then I'll have room, I refuse to let it be a year since I last did something with it Smile

Right, the CB250 went but then I bought a shiny Triumph Sprint Laughing Had the space required for about a week. So now the RSV-R is for sale, hopefully someone will buy it and I can get on with this.

It will (Praying) be done for March time next year, as I want to get rid of the CG125 I'll have used through winter by then.

BUY MY BIKE Laughing

Progress! Finally got a bit of space after having a massive garage move around.

I polished the downpipes up with blue Harpic of all things (has hydrochloric acid in it apparently, like brick acid)
https://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f186/markjackson13/DSCF1809Copy.jpg

Frame stripped down to pretty much nothing now. Took it to the welders and had that support bar replaced, and had the dinted frame lock stops welded so the yokes don't over extend any more.
https://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f186/markjackson13/DSCF1810Copy.jpg
https://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f186/markjackson13/DSCF1812Copy.jpg
https://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f186/markjackson13/DSCF1817Copy.jpg

So tonight I gave the frame a quick going over with a wire wheel to get rid of some surface rust, and then finished off by de-greasing the crap from underneath where the front sprocket is:
https://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f186/markjackson13/DSCF1828Copy.jpg

One of the bottom yoke stops is still bent too far forward. The welder guy tried to add some thickness to it but it wouldn't stick (something about it containing manganese?) so he just added more to the frame stops. As I'm going to powder coat the frame, I'd rather have the frame stops at the right thickness so I hopefully never have to faff with the frame again so want to sort the bottom yoke out.

Left side stop is good:
https://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f186/markjackson13/DSCF1819Copy.jpg
Right side is bad:
https://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f186/markjackson13/DSCF1820Copy.jpg

Unfortunately the 98 and 99 bottom yokes are different to the 2000 - 2004 ones, and the 98/99 yokes never seem to be on ebay and are expensive new so I wanted to repair this one somehow. Would cutting the stops off and tapping a thread to add some made up stops work?

Reckon heating it and bending it would work, or just snap?

Wire brushed the exhaust down to bare metal today. Need to buy some exhaust paint and paint it black again.
