I have my gsxr 750 srad and now have a gsxr 600 bottom end of the same year to put on my top end (I fucked mine up)

I know both bottom ends are identical apart from the ratios in the gearbox, anbody know if I'm looking at much of a diference? I'm guessing they'll be shorter gears, It's got all the ratios in the haynes but it means nothing to me

Any advice appreciated, cheers

This is a pretty good caluculator. Just plug the numbers in and it will work everything out for you.

That's why you have to put the numbers from your manual in Rolling Eyes Surely you can do that!

Now it does... (Both the '98 600 and the '98 750).

I did not have time to compare the combination of the 600 gearbox and the 750 bike to an all stock 750 but I will tomorrow and post the results here.

The gear ratio's should be in the form

2.51 / 1
2.03 / 1
1.85 / 1
ect

The primary drive ratio needs to be looked up on the net or in the manual. For e.g, my gpz was 2.662

Tyre size, max revs and sprocket sizes are self explainatery.

Chain pitch :

420 = 0.5"
425 = 0.5"
428 = 0.5"
520 = 0.625"
525 = 0.625"
530 = 0.625"
630 = 0.75"

And the chain links, it should say in your manual.

Pretty simple once you get the hang of it and pretty much spot on according to my sat nav.

Well actually it doesn't....
The gears are ok, you can either enter "37 & 11" or "3.363 and 1" because 37 divided by 11 is the same as 3.363 divided by 1.

The primary drive ratio can only be entered as a number so in your case 87/44 = 1.954.

Also you swaped the front and rear tooth count. You should enter "14 / 47" and not "47 / 14".

The tire size should be entered as 180 / 55 / 17, meaning:
Tire width = 180 mm, Tire height = 55% of width, Rim diameter = 17 inch. I know this is confusing but that is what manufacturers put on their tires now.

Doing all that with the numbers you supplied, results in:

It does if it looks like these screen shots:

First = Gear ration 600 gear box
Second = '98 GSX-R750 with 600 gearbox
Third = Stock '98 GSX-R750

When comparing your current (stock ?) 750 to the one withe the 600 gearbox, you will lose about 9 mile topspeed. Also there are minor differences in speed at certain RPM and gears. If the 600 gearbox can handle the power of a 750, I would not worry to much about it.

No, they are theoretical. If you're bike would rev to the limiter in top, that is the speed you'd be doing. But of course it won't with standard gearing.

Like SpannerMonkey said, they are theoretical.

BTW, you could get your topspeed back by changing the rear sprocket to 42 teeth. This would result in the following speed/RPM/Gear matrix:

When you compare this to stock 750 matrix (see 2 messages up), there is barely a difference at all Razz

2 teeth off means moving the rear wheel 0.34 inch (8.55 mm) away from the front sprocket. I don't know if you have that range right now, you will have to check that.
