ok, due to crash etc etc i cant go to uni (well i thought anyway) and been looking for a job but not really had any luck as of yet due to no office experience and possible my age.

Well today i woke up and thought "if i stay here for another year, im going to really regret not at least trying to get into uni".

The thing is Bath uni said i might be allowed in on my predicted grades but we all dismissed it saying i wasnt going to be ready. However ive recovered much quicker than anyone thought and ended up taking 2/3 of my A2 levels. Im not sure how well i did and started revision be both just a week before but revised massively and think i did ok in the exams.

The problem is people now think that im staying for this year (ie Girlfriend) and shes not planing to go to uni and think if/when i tell her ive changed my mind it will really get between us i think. BUT ive always said i wouldnt put off uni for a relationship so need to stick to my word.

Also, a girl that lives in my town that im friend with applied to 3 of the same uni's on same course (chemical engineering and we didnt know each other had applied to same subject and never spoken about it) and think it would be good to have someone i get on with to talk about things i dont understand etc. At same time a friend who im really good friends with is taken a year out and then going to bath (not same course) and would be great to go with her. Twisted Evil This is hard!!

So, this is one of the hardest choice i have to make and i think i know it might be better to go but not sure so want to know what you all think Thumbs Up

A shag in the hand is worth two in the bush. I think.

Plenty of shags at uni, the joys of f*ck a fresher week Thumbs Up

On topic, as you've said you'd regret not going then I'd go with that and try to go. At least you'll know you'll have tried and you've still the fallback of your original plan.

Thumbs Up

Hi

If you are just doing an office job for a year you are not really gaining anything by not going.

If you go you get the fun of uni sooner but also finish sooner to get a proper income.

If your G/F is upset now she will be upset in a year. The UK is a small place if its meant to work out for you as couple then it will. If you going to uni finishes it, then it was probably going to anyway.

Apply see if you get in.

Regards
C

Andy,

This is your career you are talking about here. Like you've said yourself, dont put of uni for the sake of your g/f. If she really thought that much of you she should be encouraging you to go, and be successfull. Naturally she'll be sad, but then who wouldn't.

At your age, sort your qualifications out first.

Thumbs Up

If you manage to get a job, I think you should stay and put off uni for a year. Doing a crappy job for a year will make you extra motivated when you get to uni as you will know that you want to get a good degree to get a better job in the future.

I think getting the most out of uni will be easier when you are fully recovered rather than having to struggle a bit.

I also agree with shaggy that if you have a good woman, you should enjoy that while its still good. Sometimes enthusiasm tales off after a bit after a year or two, and then you will be off to uni.

Random shags are not as satisfying, and you can always meet someone at uni later on anyway.

Try to keep in touch with the girl who will be a year in front of you though as she may be able to help you with your course.

I agree with Barry. If she really cares for you she would encourage you to go. Is she a wee bit jealous??

Does the current girlfriend take it up the bum?

If not off to uni for you, if she does hang around for a year...

I am of course joking, in all seriousness if the relationship is "the one" then it won't matter if you go off to uni etc.

If you have the option to go to uni and its what you want then do it, progress yourself and enjoy life.

As selfish as this may sound, end of the day you should do what you want and make yourself happy.

Go to Bath. I'm there studying mech eng, it's great. Get pissed in fresher's week (and every week thereafter), join the bike club ("bones heal and chicks dig scars", perfect for you methinks!) and a billion other societies, then realise you only have time for three. The bike club are a great bunch of people, I was in it in my first year, may join again when I go back in September (3rd year) but I dunno if I'll have time. But ride-outs every week, ice karting, bike show at the NEC, it's great. And you don't have to have a bike, you can grab a pillion if you don't have two wheels of your own (hmmm wonder if I get commission for this!)

If your girlfriend is worth her salt she'll be happy for you. If not, then why are you with her anyway? (Disclaimer: I'm sure she's a lovely person)

If you want to go to uni, do it. I'm loving my time at Bath and I'm sure you will too.

But in a job you may have a hard time of it, at uni (which as far as I can tell involves mostly drinking Very Happy ) cannot be harder than a crappy job. You can ask for ground floor room (so when pissed you do not fall down stairs) and other stuff as required. In a crappy job you will be told to slingyour hook if you have a bad week.

However Colin does have point about a shit job providing motovation but do you already have enough

strike while the irons hot go to uni now. Thumbs Up

the trouble with taking a job now is you get used to regular money coming and in and then you get used to spending money on reular basis.

the girl friend thing as many have said will be ok if shes the one then you'll both make it work, distance is no object to true love especially with texting, emailing, phone calls and heaven forbid you could even surprise her one day with a proper letter Wink

see you at brands

It doesn't work. To put it simply, I had the best girlfriend you could possibly imagine(well she was perfect for me anyway) we loved each other tremendously, blah blah. But then me and my parents moved to Spain, and really within a week of being there I realised it wasn't going to work. Maybe it was just young hormones, but the sight of fresh pussy and knowing I wouldn't be able to see or shag my ex for a good few months made me realise I couldn't really make it work.
But hey, I move back to England next month so we'll see what happens Very Happy

Now as for your girlfriend Andy, to be honest it won't work with you in Uni and her not, though I guess you figured that already, but really you may aswell spend an extra year with her(if you think she's worth it of course)
A years delay won't really make much difference to your Uni life, and who knows, if you see her for another year you might just fall out of love with her, and so there'll be no tearful goodbyes before you go to Uni Smile

go to uni mate both my girlfriend and my ex did, i didnt try and dtop either of them because your stuck with yourself for life, if you dont go and break up anyway youll be mega pissed off and if you go and break up then it was'nt ment to be (as mrs kickstart said)
I had been with my g/f for 2 years, she went to uni and a week later we had split! But with my current girlfriend she went to uni for 4 years and one of those was in france!

Do what's best for you, the rest will work itself out!

It's been a week since you posted. What have you decided?

Seeing as you can't make up your own mind, look at what the majority here have said. You know you've got to go to uni. Do it. Stick it out to the end and then get the job you want.

It's a long life (hopefully). Get the best start you can. As for the G/F, it's been said already, if she's the one she'll still be there at the end. If she won't accept you going to uni then she's kind of shooting herself in the foot as your prospects should be so much greater in a few years time and she'll need you with a decent income to support the lavish lifestyle you want to give her. Laughing
