Releasing the V-Twin Thump?!

Hey,

I've just picked up a K5 SV650S, lovely bike but I bought a v twin for the noise! So which race can really brings out the awesome sound of the thumpers? I'm in Ireland so we've no such thing as road legal cans . There are so many out there I just don't know which one to choose, e.g. yoshi, scorpion, blue flame, viper, micron, laser etc. etc.

Cheers for any advice you guys might have!

for the record, paul is right the blue flame sounds nice and my single port is also nice, but not as nice as his.

also for the record...sv thou has bolt on, sv 650 its a cut and link pipe job...

As you know, the problem with the sound of an SV is that for the rider it is quite quiet. For those behind it it sounds great. Changing the end can enables the rider to hear the engine better, and it feels safer if the bike is a little noisier 'cause the cagers can hear there is a bike coming.
If you get a slip on can, there are loads on e-bay. And you cut the old one off carefully enough, you can put the blimmin thing back on again if you want. All you need is a joining clip which fits securely enough.
You don't have to get a daft straight through can, just about any legal can will do the trick, although some of them are not as well made as others.
Another thing is the original exhaust is very heavy. Changing the can or the whole lot is a considerable weight saving I'm told.

just wait a bit then pick the one thats on sale and fits if they all do the same thing and youve got working exhaust anyways why not make a smart vanity purchase

Jimbot, get off your high horse, some other people use their bikes more than once a year too and I for one would love a great big loud can strapped to my bikes tail end, hopefully on my next bike I will have a straight through, does this make me a noob?

It's all about personal preference, and if you ain't man enough to let your bike show it's true voice in the form of a growl then fine, but don't drag the rest of us down with you.
