What with the recent "There & Back" project work, my bike is back as it should be, i.e. standard (please excuse the non-standard polished bits of course). Throughout the rebuild, I couldn't help but give the odd part a bit of a spit and polish. Without getting too obsessed with every minute blemish and stone chip (as if I would), I think......I think I've finished Shocked

For once, I'm actually satisfied with the finished article, so much so that there doesn't seem to be anything more I want to do to it, apart from ride the thing every once and a while of course.

The sale of the parts came to £850, which was about £150 more than I paid for them Confused Time for that second bike me'thinks.

That's a really stunning looking blade you have there! Not the best colour scheme they did, but it really nice, clean, and original!
Good work!

Thanks chaps Thumbs Up

Had a nice trip down to Brighton yesterday, even took a pillion - the bike performed surprisingly well. I'd forgotten how quick the thing was - until my hapless passenger claimed that the thing was a little obscene, I was just cruising as well Neutral The bottom end and roll on does seem a lot smoother.

I don't think I've had a bike that I'm as satisfied with since my NC30, it's almost like I've got my hands on another 400/4; in the way that the more original it is, the 'better' it seems to be. Everything on the bike just seems 'right' even down to the mahoosive indicators, chunky rubber-booted footrests and fugly black exhaust. I actually like the colour too - I always like white Hondas of any vintage (RC30s, Blades, SP2s) - apart from Pan Europeans with flashing lights of course.

Sorry for the surprise Quacker, I guess you hadn't spotted my previous threads. Basically, I was wondering whether or not to sell the Blade, as, at the time, I didn't ride it enough (I still don't) and wondered why I had the thing; it being couped up in the garage for 75% of its life. After realising that I had the price of a second bike bolted to the bike and that such addons didn't really add as much to the bike for my uses, I decided to part with them.

A 15 year old bike with 40k on the clocks would have shagged suspension. Best possible thing you could do to one is restore/upgrade the shock/forks and add a couple of tyres you're confident with. It seemed logical to keep these installed.

Budget for my next bike stands at £500-£1000, I don't really want to spend too much more than that, in case that bike looses its 'disposable' appeal. I've been considering an unfaired 400, maybe even a Bandit 6, wouldn't mind getting a crosser and supermotoing it up.

Maybe I should start up a part time bike cleaning business to add to the budget Thinking

As far as I can tell, the chain's within its tension - I'll check again in a hundred miles or so. Wink

Thanks all Thumbs Up

Good luck if your planning on making a road legal supermoto out of an old crosser for £500ish?

Im re-building my KMX200 from the frame up, and converting into a supermoto at the same time. Im going with a set of spoked 17" rims, laced to the KMX hubs. Even so with all the bit's the bike will need, including a full engine re-build+tune, and a full suspension and brake re-build/conversion to more suitable stuff for supermoto street use, ive budgeted £2000 to do everything. I still think i will have to source alot of bits like bodywork and usable spares off ebay as well, to get it done within my budget.

Don't worry, my idea for this supermoto is as-road-biased-tyres as possible and a loud(ish) exhaust, nothing trick, nothing fancy, otherwise I might as well add a grand onto the budget and go buy a ready made KTM.

Hmm, dug out of the archives, an RRN Fireblade at the Honda Museum. Wish mine was as unmarked.
