 |

Hi, Whilst my bike is off the road, i have decided to clean the whole bike up a bit as it was looking a bit manky in those "hard to reach" places
This is the bolt which is causing me some grief now
https://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y114/parsons2005/54ab10d1.jpg
The nut on the other side (also helps to hold the exhaust) comes off nice and easy.
https://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y114/parsons2005/c244c6dd.jpg
Tried hitting it but not that hard as to damage the threads
Any ideas?
Thanks, Richard

bit of heat mabye that can help or loads of penertration fluid, tried putting a decent socket on it and jumping on the ratcheted one swift kick or hit can help disloge it more than pulling hard ____________________ 2nd time around CBT: 8/9/11

Heat, penetration fluid (there's far better stuff than WD40) or impact driver. ____________________ Current bike: Kawasaki Z750S |

Dont have access to heat till monday, cant wait that long
Dont like the idea of jumping on a rachet, sounds like the ideal way to round off a head by doing that
Might just leave it stuck and leave swingarm attached. ____________________ add me to your msn messenger contacts : [email protected] |

There's a couple of old threads about getting those bloody things out. When they get stuck, they get proper stuck because they rust into the bushes or bearings burried pretty deep inside the swingarm. That means "gentle" methods won't work on it and you have to resort to a sledgehammer and accept you're going to end up breaking something.
Although I did once get one out by soaking it diesel for 2 weeks
Unless you are really comitted, just leave it as is and work around it.

Sorry, I'm confused.
Is the bolt seized and wont turn, or is the spindle seized and cant be hammered out? ____________________ Current : MSX 125 Past : CBR 900RR Monkeybike : c50 LAC : ZXR750 H2 : FZR600 : ZX7R P3 : YW100 : TRX850: Trophy 900 T309 : GSXR 600 L0: Monkeybike : XJ6S Whosthedaddy |

Its the actual spindle that goes through the swingarm and through the frame, The nut is free
Ive got it to move about 1 - 2 mm by hitting it hard with a hammer on the thread side, but its still Very stuck ____________________ add me to your msn messenger contacts : [email protected] |

I did'nt have any problems with removing my rear spindle, just some good hard taps with a hammer. Hit it, dont just tickle it
You could always place a piece of wood against the metal so as not to damage the threads too much. I found that using something like a socket head or extension was handly for hammering it out once its 'enetered' the frame, then just wiggle and pull with clamps from the other side.
Good luck ____________________ Current : MSX 125 Past : CBR 900RR Monkeybike : c50 LAC : ZXR750 H2 : FZR600 : ZX7R P3 : YW100 : TRX850: Trophy 900 T309 : GSXR 600 L0: Monkeybike : XJ6S Whosthedaddy |

Fill the gaps on both sides of the spindle with penetrating fluid, knock it back in, wait a few hours, try again.
If you get another mm out of it, repeat until it comes out/you get bored
