hi all, what is classed as a high mileage bike ? I know it depends on the owner and services etc. but was just wondering on average what a high mileage would be-i.e. one to put me off buying a particular bike!
many thanks |

Dunno, seems to be a wierd trend that anything over 10,000 is considered high.
Thats only just broken in to me. |

My Fazer has over 45k miles on the clock, and I was offered a better deal on a new 'bike if I didn't trade it in
10k seems to be the threshold for most 'bikes - bit like 100k is for cars.
The plus side is that those of us that know 'bikes will do many, many more miles than that can pick up some right bargains.

My SV had a little over 20k on when I traded it in, and although it was in excellent condition, the mileage was what let me down on the value. I don't consider 20k a high mileage by any means, but like said, it depends on the bike itself. ____________________ https://www.bikepics.com/members/fuzzbcf/

High Milage = (State of tune x CC)/regular servicing
Or some crap like that. I would say those are the key factors though. ____________________ NC30 + Bandit 6

Depends entirely on the bike, and a lot on the "era" of the bike inquestion. 30k miles on most '80's bikes would see them royally shagged. There are exceptions of course put 30k on a efe and it will still be going strong.
Improvement in modern materials, lubricants and expectations means that 30k on most bikes nowadays is nothing at all. Many bikes won't even need the valves shimming at 30K and will still have excellent leakdown results at 50-100k miles. Nikasil-plated barrels will still be showing the honing cross-hatching after many years of hard use, such is the hardness of the coating. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'
