 |
|
THE UPDATED QUESTION IS ON THE LAST POST BY ME.
Got me new bike delivered today, have not a clue where to start with this one
Its a GPZ 600 import so I'm told, I want to try and get her running before I spend any half decent money, don't know if its all there, any advice on what to look for, even the obvious would be appreciated, before the scrap it, or burn it comments start, thats not an option, its a bike and it WILL be on the road!

There's no fuel tank. You need one of them to get it running.

Looks like you like a chalange.....
Is it just me or the pic, but has the rear subframe just been ground off with something like a angle grinder.... ____________________ Just because my bike was A DIVVY, does not mean i am...... |

Before you even turn the engine over, make sure you get a cover on the timing rotor, or there will be a big pool of oil on the floor!!
Shouldn't take much to get running. ____________________ ZXR750R (M2) - For the road.

Assuming you get it running, I'd weld an ammo box between the rails of what's left of the subframe to bung the electrics and battery in, attach a hugger and a shorty single seat bolted to the subframe remnants (nothing behind it, just a seat, maybe a small 'bum shelf' to stop you slipping off).
Hardtail the back end at the exact angle it is sitting at now by running some bracers from the swingarm up to the subframe and run the biggest tyre you can fit on at about 15psi.
Get some wide drag bars with a slight kick-back and make up some rearsets so you sit streaked out along the bike in a drag style. Finish it off with a huge round headlamp. Attach the numberplate and tail light to the battery box and fit your flashers in the cut ends of the subframe rails.
I'd make a fuel tank out of two empty gas cylinders (like a scuba diving cylinder type) so they sit with a low profile along the top of the frame spars. You can weld a fuel cap in one and join them at the bottom and top with a length of tubing so they make one big tank.
Now get a big can of matt black paint, do what needs to be done and go find some boy-racers to take on in the traffic light grand-prix. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

Guv, when they imported it, I think they left over half of it on the ship.
As for where to start.... you can't sit on it without a seat. Hmm, just noticed, seat support is an issue too.... But I'm not one to point out the obvious. ____________________ Roger wrote: Women don't get damp for clingy puppies. lmao, u dont need an exhaust system, there just for the police, a plain pipe like on GP bikes, now thats an exhaust, dont think it will pass its MOT though till you get a cover and .... the rest of the parts. should be a fun project though, hope that engine is a runner for you mate. ____________________ Haz ER-5, innit! |

Ah, so he doesn't need an exhaust system, but he does need an exhaust system, thanks for clearing that up....
Or are you suggesting he melts the back of the radiator?
...assuming he has enough intelligence to fit one, which is debatable...... | You fookin mong. He is suggesting that the bike doesn't need an exhaust to run, but to be on the road it does. As for the intelligence comment, The irony. Also he has a sense of humour which you don't seem to display. ____________________ Roger wrote: Women don't get damp for clingy puppies.
