Neutral switch is stuck or something? Help please?

I just picked up a CB750 yesterday.

The neutral light is always on, however when it goes into neutral, it gets even brighter. Not a whole lot brighter, but just a bit. Not that annoying during day, but at night its obnoxious having a green light shining in your eyes.

Any ideas on what to check?

the switch by the gear box that telle the light to come on and go off then your not in neutral? the wires around the area and possibly your fuses i would check, i'm not good on the spark side of bike though, someone will know on here. but i'd check what i've just said anyway.

The gear selector switch should be next to where the gear selector arm goes into the gearbox.There will be a little round black thing with 2 screws holding it on.There should be 1 wire comeing off it.

Take that out and try checking/changing it for a known good one.

Might have to take the front sprocket cover off to get to it.

It's like that on the bikes i've worked on but dont hold me to it.

Neutral light is usually an earch switch. Just means that its either a faulty switch or the wiring is screwed going into the back of the clocks.

Quick way to check would be to get a volt meter, stick positive on the battery and negative where the connector pushes onto the neutral switch (location as above).

You should see 12v when in neutral and 0v when in gear. If you get 12v in gear, the switch is borked! If you pull the connector off the neutral switch and the light still stays on, its earthing somewhere else and you need to check your wiring!!!
