As title, anyone got some pics for me?

Trying to figure out the best way of packing all my stuff on the bike.

https://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x13/fronterapics/campingearonbike800x600.jpg

That's everything on,but do i need all that Crying or Very sad

From the bottom is the tent,roll-mat &bivvy bag, then sleeping bag.
Theres not really a better way to store it all. Embarassed

Im thinking maybe i could ditch the roll-mat,and bivvy bag,...erm no actually i cant get rid of the roll-mat,but probably dont need the bivvy bag though Question
I usually go camping with my jeep,so never had to worry too much about carrying stuff Crying or Very sad

Very Happy

Looking at that I was thinking one of those waterproof duffle bag type things (Aldi had some for canoe/sailing a bit back). Put your stuff in that and only one bag to strap across the seat. Especially useful to have a dry sleeping bag.

Other thought was to get some panniers or a way to strap it along the side to get the weight further down (lower centre of gravity type thing).

Otherwise looks ok, positively spartan compared to some bikes I've seen. Some pics in this thread.

Thumbs Up

Actually,i never thought about keeping it waterproof Embarassed Laughing

Will look into getting some sort of waterproof duffle bag. Thumbs Up

I cant really go with panniers because of where the exhaust is,and it get's really hot so would probably burn anything that i leave close to it.

Will go for a look on that thread now, thanks Thumbs Up

I waterproofed my panniers and tailpack, and stuffed anything electrical or for eating off into carrier bags, before packing them away. For clothes, I just got a dry sack from the camping store, and did the same.

The luggage itself proved pretty waterproof for the whole journey, one thing I'd recommend is a waterproof map!

https://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b282/primmy/IMG_8076.jpg

You can see in this picture, my pannier had slipped down to just cm above the exhaust. Tightening the bungees up sorted it for the duration.

Sorry crap at computers so don't know how to put on a pic, But.
I have a early 600 hornet and go touring.
I use hard Givi paniers with mototech brackets. Givi dont make a bracket for my bike, discontinued.
I have a small 1/2 man hike tent across the back on the rack.
All the rest fits in the panniers so stays dry and secure.
I got a "blowup" matress and pillow as it is a lot smaller than the roll up type, and a compressed mummy type bag.
Keep your luggage simple and in as fewer places as possible as trying to secure lots of bits can be awkward, one bag is better than lots. rememder to make waterproofs accessable as when it rains you will need them in a hurry.

I haven't any pics of them on the bike, but this year I am using bags made from the blue rubble sacks you can get.

Thick, strong, waterproof and reusable. (And cheap!)

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v246/super_jo/rubblebags001.jpg

What I did was use one and a half sacks to make each bag (one for sleeping bag and one for tent/rollmat) - using the half as a lid type thing. I used gaffer tape to tape up the slack on the seams so they fitted snugly inside.

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v246/super_jo/rubblebags002.jpg

Hinge taped the lid on and taped the corners round for neatness.

I had some self-adhesive velcro pads, so used 3 of them on each bag as fasteners.

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v246/super_jo/rubblebags003.jpg

Hopefully they will see me through all my rallies/travels this year, and they won't rip/flap about like bin bags do. Thumbs Up

Cost - £1.60 for 6 sacks, pence for tape.

Another vote for ortleib dry bags. Top piece of kit Thumbs Up. You will find you can put up with a hell of a lot weather wise if you know you can garauntee you have a dry change of clothes and a dry sleeping bag at the end of the run.

My VFR (two dry bags, that's a 2 1/2 week run with camping and fishing I'm off on there by the way). Mates Tiger.

Bandit 600, My clothes were inside binbags inside the panniers, Then i had the tent at the back, infront of that the sleeping matt, and then the sleeping bag and other random bits and pieces... I used 2 cargo nets to keep everything in place... and then the old mankey cargo net that is too worn out to be any good to go over the lot...

Aldi have got them waterproof duffel bags in again.
44 litres for about £7.

You've got me thinking now about a little tour this weekend.

Already in here somewhere but when i went touring i had some oxford started set from M and P and seemed to be places to put everything.

For example, sleeping mat and tent were help on by come pannier straps to keep it closed, just fitted (was tight but ment was firmly on the bike)

Worked really well and on the way home Ram suggest strapping the tank bag to tail pack so i could get more out of the wind (would def get a screen if i did those sort of miles on the 'four again!!)

This is pretty much relevant.

I'm planning on going 2 download fest, at the moment i'm planning to bring a tent, sleeping bag, my hardshell backpack and a tankbag for clothes, it won't be much, and cos it's festival over 3 days, would you think that such equipment would be sufficient.

Anyway, this isn't exactly camping - more of my migration up to scotland.

https://photos-711.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sf2p/v113/10/100/500990711/n500990711_260719_851.jpg

I had a fully expanded tankbag and backpack as well as that - but i still managed to do london to edinburgh in 6 hours. Equates to 3 pairs of shoes, 6 pairs of trousers/jeans, 1 suit, poncho, small blanket, laptop, HDD, camera + electrical connectors and plugs, documents, haynes manual.. Not exactly camping per se, which is why i'm asking for advice on what to bring for festival weekends?

Only stuff you can afford to have stolen, fallen over on top of or puked up on.
