No reason why it shouldn't come out. I would make a stepped drift to press it out from outside. If you have a socket that will fit through the hole in the casing and catch on the inner race, you might be able to use that as a drive. Probably will have to sacrifice the seal, better yet remove it first if possible. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

You are not using enough heat.
Put the whole thing in the oven and leave it there until it is fearsomely hot.
The bearings will probably fall out by themselves (listen for the clunk from the oven), if they don't, gentle tapping with a drift should persuade them out.
Remember to wear thick leather gloves to handle them. Welding gloves are ideal.
I was doing the reverse of that job this weekend. Cases in the oven, bearings in the freezer. Didn't even need my hammer, they dropped right into place. Note leather gloves, hammer and socket and extension bar "drift" on standby.

EDIT: Remember to remove any circlips. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”
I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles. |
