My SRAD GSXR 600 is jerking in 2nd gear sometimes Confused If I roll on at low revs (~3k) it sometimes jolts at about 6/7k (I think) for a split second, then carries on accellerating. I'm pretty sure the revs aren't rising in that split second, so I'm thinking it's either fuelling or gearbox? It seems to only happen in 2nd gear though, so probably more likely to be gearbox? That's as far a my mechanical knowledge goes atm (I'm learning!) so what do you guys reckon?

Thanks a lot.

(The bike is new to me btw, so if this is something like damage from clutching up wheelies it's not my fault Sad)

Thanks, what would that entail in order to fix if that's what's wrong? Lotsa money?

You'll need to remove the engine. Now depending on whether the cases are splittable without removing the head or not will determine the cost and difficulty of the job. If you can, then you need simply to split the cases, remove the gearbox, replace or repair the knackered gears then re-assemble. Likely to cost ~£200 in parts. If you have to strip the engine totally you'll be looking to add another £100 or so to that for gaskets & sundries, at a guess.

Could just be chain or sprokets.
I know it only shows in second gear but that could just be the amount or torque in that gear being ideal to trigger the fault.

Yes it could be, no advice shoul dbe taken as gospel especially on here as there's first-hand inspection. Very good point.
Gixxers do have a rep for jumping the 2nd gear dogs though.

Suzukis suffer it because for some reason they don't under-cut the 2nd gear dog. My own theory is that it's something to do with the wider ratio differential between 1st and 2nd than the other gears but TBH who knows?
