they should be able to get them back if they did a new back-up of the server before they installed the new server, if so tell them to look at the backups and retreave the outlook account data ____________________ suzuki GSX 600F katana .: ~my bike up for sale~ :.

If all else fails your old ost file may still be on your machine and can be converted into a pst which can then be imported back into outlook.

Here's a silly idea....
Why not speak to your IT dept, rather than post the question on a motorbike chat forum?
Or am I missing something here?!

From some poking on Google this is the way i started to go. However, i wasn't going to pay to convert them and the free versions didn't work.
#call to IT mate who's a linux geek#
Calls back in a few minuted with some ideas after he's thought about how outlook works.
So, set a restore point. Jumped back to last week before they had my new account, opened outlook, exported my outbox.
Saved this as a .pst and jumped back to the restore point i had created earlier.
Started up outlook and imported the new .pst file.
It's all running fine now, however outlook is downloading the last three months worth of emails from the server and updating all the folders. Been ticking on for 4 hours now and outlook is very very unstable.
Why didn't i ask my IT company? Well, the second rate IT 'support' company knew about this as soon as they deleted them all.
They insited on remoting into my PC just to add a new password to my VPN and alter the sever address. Far beyond my skills.
Anyhow, when he deleted it all i left a note on the screen informing him (while on remote desktop) of the blunder and he called back. The call went like this.
Him: Have you really lost your emails from the outbox?
Me: Yes.
Him: How many? How many days worth?
Me: Oh, only 8 hours worth from today and a few from the weekend.
Him: Oh Fu*k . . . .
Me: So, are they gone forever, or can you get them back?
Him: They gone. Can you re-write them? Did you have anything saved?
Me: I can try and work out what i've said to people. . . Thought they were saved in the outbox . . .
Him: Oh, . . . well, they're gone.
Me: No chance of getting them back?
Him: Nope. . . .
They're a shower of shizzle and we don't physically have any proper IT people. They're sub'd in from Plymouth (we're in London!) to handle rubbish like this.
It's just sad that they're meant to be experts yet i have to patch things up after them. Just a long line of cock ups from them . .
Thanks for all the pointers though and we would of got they in the end! ____________________ "because one stroke isnt enough and four strokes waste two" |

Right OK, my point has been lost, but that's OK. I was trying to outline that perhaps he was off line and his mails were sat in the outbox on the client waiting to be sent.
And, i've been doing exchange installs for nearly 9 years, so i certainly do know what i am talking about. |
