Well what do you think? An airbox is more restrictive than none at all, so if there's less restriction to the air, more can flow.

Removing an air filter or airbox will make the bike run lean.

On an air screw, you turn it clockwise to make the mixture richer (more fuel) and anti clockwise to make the mixture leaner (less fuel).

You recall wrong Wink

Would you happen to know Which say on the needle hight settings does what Razz if you do, kinda give a step by step way of changing it... as some people say move the needle up, but mean the circlip up (putting the needle down)

chanks!

Hi

Running without a filter should make it leaner.

The idle mixture is adjusted with a screw normally, but there are 2 types. One lets more fuel in when you undo it, richening the mixture, the other lets more air through the idle circuit and undoing it leans the mixture. In either case only relevant on a closed throttle, or with tiny openings.

Needle may have a clip and a set of positions. Moving the clip down towards the pointed end of the needle means that the needle sits higher in the slide, and so for the same throttle position a narrower part of the needle is obstructing the fuel from the nozzle in the carb which gives a richer mixture.

All the best

Keith

Thank you Mr. Green

i asume you know alot of 2 stokes... so..

im running a 110 jet (as you may remember from my other thred) and i know its too big, but i cant get a smaller one for a while Thumbs Down

anyway, im trying to "bodge" the fuel with the mixture screw, needle hight and idle screw... im also thinking about up-rating the oil flow aswell, after this the bike will be setup to run for an 80cc big bore kit, think it would run ok on a standard 50cc with 80cc settings? Embarassed

Hi

Oil pump won't make a massive difference. You can easily adjust it for a small difference though. No point in doing this in advance of fitting the 80cc kit.

The idle mixture screw, needle and main jet all control different parts of the throttle openings fueling. You cannot really use the idle mixture screw and needle adjustments to make up for a far too big main jet. Main jet basically controls the fueling at full throttle (which in a 50cc bike is going to be what you are on 90% of the time).

All the best

Keith
