I'd worry a bit about it getting damaged. Not impossable for bikes to occasionally spit flames back through their carbs and you generally land up with a fair bit of oil and stuff lurking about in there.

Just put it somewhere that can't be easily reached and is out of the weather. Under the saddle is usually as good as anywhere.

My oppinion is that if they go as far as removing the saddle to get at it, they are stealing the bike no matter what you do. Hiding it further in just means they do more damage looking for it which you have to repair if the bike eventually turns up again. I don't use steering locks for the exact same reason.

Is the siren away from the processor, if the alarms situated in airbox too, would be quite useless. just a thought Laughing

I wouldnt put mine in, ive had sludge appear in there and bugs and just general grit, which i wouldnt want to smother electrically newfangery in.

I've heard of an alarm being put at the bottom of the battery box. Not sure that's a good idea myself, as battery boxes can trap water Thumbs Down

As well as being prone to getting battery acid spilled in them on occasion.

Bugs and bits get in through the air intake..... Sludge tends to come up throught the crankcase breather pipe that many bikes route into the airbox for emmisions reasons Wink

What about the inside of the headlamp for the card if its so small Thumbs Up

First off, it's going to get oil and petrol fumes all over it, eventually leading to it failing.

Secondly, you'll achieve nothing by hiding it in there.

If somebody has the time and situation to be able to remove your seat/fairings to remove the alarm, you think putting it in the airbox is going to affect them? Ofcourse not, even an idiot could follow the wires there so it isn't hidden, and on a lot of bikes removing the airbox is easier than the tail fairings!

All in all, stupid idea, best not to bother mate... Under the seat or tail fairings.

+1 ... its a bad idea ...

Also if it is a sports bike the airbox is 'tuned' in size and shape, sticking summin in there will change these properties ... its not going to stop the bike running, but it will stop the 'harmony'!! Thumbs Down

There's better places to put it than in the airbox. Just put it under the tank or under the seat.
