Hi...

This has been bugging me for weeks. Hopefully you can help me.

I'm looking for something (not neccessarily for a sat nav) to hold my sat nav that has a clear top to it, some way of routing earphone wires out of and will keep the rain out. I'd like to be able to mount it on my handlebar clamp (hornet 600), so that I don't have to look down at the tank.

I'm not bothered how it attaches as long as it's quick to put on and take off and it's fairly sturdy.

This is the sat nav I have.

I'd prefer it to be a bag/pouch as opposed to a box/case.

I've looked at a lot of different ideas, even going down the route of pencil cases, bobble cases. I have also looked at map cases but they're all too big. I have looked at ipod cases like the aquapac but I wouldn't have a way of charging the device when it's raining and they're too expensive anyway!

I hope someone can help me. Please - just throw any ideas you have my way and I will look into them myself if need be.

Thanks so much!

i struggled with this for a few months
trying to find something suitable to hold the satnav in

In the end i went for a tank bag and wires from the battery
For sound i use a radio transmitter thing from the satnav to a phone tuned into it
Messy but works, i didnt fancy my ears being attached to the tank bag if i came off... Smile

Originally i was looking for handlebar bag style thing, but couldnt find one with a clear pocket.
Would be ideal, but no clear pocket

You could just calbe tie the sat nav to the bit where the bars mount, that's what most racers do with lap timers. Not very quick to remove mind.

tank bag's a no no because I want it mounted on the bars, they're all too big to do that.

Zip ties is a no because I still need it to be waterproof (atleast to some degree)

Cheers for the ideas though, much appreciated. Keep 'em comin'.

Are you a courier or planning on going to Mount Ararat on your bike?

Forgive me, but that's the only two reasons I can think of for having satnav.

I hate satnav. One of those little things the annoys me Laughing Thumbs Up

I love sat nav! It makes it far easier when going somewhere, especially in a city centre that's clogged with traffic and with a one-way system.

I just like how simple it makes navigating. I always prefer not to use one if I can... if the route's simple basically.

The expensive way would be to just get a Tom Tom Rider
Waterproof
designed to be used with gloves on
better vibration resistance for use on a bike

Satnavs are handy to know when you will get home. Smile
set off with the satnav set to home
It will keep updating with ETA to get back home from where ever you are. Smile

That would be the ultimate solution, but I'm too tight with my money. I don't use satnav often enough to justify spending £300 on one.

The sat nav I have only cost £60 brand new Cool I have tomtom on it anyway.

Wrap it in a freezer bag and cable tie it to the top yoke. Cool

Quite a good solution, but I'd prefer something a bit more made for it if you know what I mean. It'd be a pain in the arse to take the sat nav off then when filling up/parking etc. I'd also have to replace the freezer bag everytime If it was held on with a tie of some sort.

Sorry for being so picky!

If you want to splash out try a Ram Aqua Box. Can't afford it at the min, but it's definitely on my wishlist Razz.

I've looked into them too, they're all too big and chunky. I'd want something that I could fit in my pocket really.

I can't believe that there's nothing out there. All I want is a case for my sat nav with a zip at the bottom, a few hoops on the back and a clear front. I'm starting to believe they don't exist.

Handy, if you have a baglux tank cover.

Would I have to have a baglux tank cover to use one of those?

Pretty good idea though... as it tilts.

Cheers!

no other options - get one of those.

im going to get one for myself too, i bought the satnav hodler and everything for my tom tom - but in the rian i have to put a sandwhich bag or freezer bag around it to keep it dry - but when if it isnt tight enough the wind gets in and you cant see it .... so im going to get an aqua box instead. no amount of finding things or anything else will compare to getting one - and they're cheap enough really anyway.

pls you can put your phone and wallet in there for 'non-sat-nav-days'

For that one yeah you would. Might be worth a search for a magnetic one though. I fit a baglux cover to all my bikes then just re sell them on ebay when I sell the bike, they are a great bit of kit. I fitted a new one on the Tuono today but its so bloody cold it is not sitting properly yet. I'll post a few pics of the navigon tank bag when I put it on.

What's so good about the baglux tank covers? The only benefit I could see would be to put a tank bag on... but you can buy tank bags with magnets in..

I've just seen the price of that navigon tank bag... £60... nah...

That one is magnetic...apologies. Mine is the same but has the baglux clips.

Why do I like tank covers? A couple of reasons, they save your tank from scratches (particularly from magnetic tank bags, and the bagster tank bags are so easy to fit/use.

Why dont you just get a waterproof bag with a clear front and sew some straps onto the back? Or get something else vaguely like what you need and just adjust it to your needs.

Could get that and cut a hole, sew in a see through cover on the front?

HTH! Thumbs Up
