Hi,

A couple of years ago I swapped the standard seat unit of my bike with a race unit. In doing so I removed the cable and lock mechanism for removing the pillion seat. When putting the standard unit back on some time after I forgot to put back the cable and lock and snapped Rolling Eyes the pillion seat pad in place without thinking, the outcome, i can't remove the pillion pad so can't get underneath to do what I now need to do, which is replace the subframe due to damage. Any one got any tips? thanks! Laughing

I think a lot pf people have done the same thing. I did it my old GSX750F.

My solution was to simply order a new seat and then hacksaw off the old one. Once you can get under the seat you can just pull the mechanism to release the rest of it.

What bike is it, on my FZR the rear light comes convieniently off and gives access. If you can;t be bothered to sort a new lock do what I do, and route the cable out the lock hole. Has worked fine so far.

Also instead of hacksawing through the seat you could also go through the undertray with a dremel or something, then patch the hole back up with duct tape. Though take care not to catch any wires (Or CDIs)

Sv650k3. the lock is there, but the cable was removed the last time i took the seat off. I can get my hand underneath but the mechanism is inside what i can actually get my hands on. I need to check what I'm playing with on my other bike then try again I recon. I'd rather not have to hack saw it!! Confused Shocked

If you can get your fingers on it, can you get a piece of thin wire at it to unsnap the lock/ pull the lock open?
