I'm looking for some really good Classical or Opera songs, something abit different, but there is alot out there so I need your help!

Looking for proper rousing music, stuff that makes a good movie soundtrack, that gets the emotions going!

So far I like:

Vide Cor Meum
Requiem for a Dream (Not classical as such but acceptable)
Crimson Tide Theme
Adagio for Strings (Shits on Tiesto)
Moonlight Sonata (My favourite)
9th Symphony
In the Hall of the Mountain King
1812 Overture
Ride of the Valkyries
Canon D
Time To Say Goodbye
Fur Elise

Air on a G string.

It is one of my funeral songs.

There's plenty of classical songs that stir emotions, not sure of names but I know what I like and what I don't.

Uhhhh, I can't spell my own contribution.
"Iries dae"

Dunno, cant find it on google or youtube, so obviously I am mis-spelling it somehow.

Somebody smarter than me (?Shaggy?) might know what I mean. I think its either Wagner or, um, someone starting with B, or maybe R. LOL ... fukkit, shut up Jen, digging myself a hole here Laughing

The first two minutes is very well known, used a lot for ads and some films ... its my favourite piece of music.

The Planets by Holt is very good. Mars is perhaps my favourite. Star Wars theme is always good Laughing, as is Imperial March.

My Dad loves anything by Mario Lanza. Ave Maria was played at my Nan's funeral (not Lanza's version though) not so long back so is a touching song for us.

I really like Hayley Westenra. She does some more modern-style stuff too.

Nope, thats not the one.
(although that is very nice!)

I woulda remembered if it was Agnus Dei, that's part of some mass in Latin (lamb of god you take away the sins of the world have mercy on us, blah blah et ad nauseum) ... all the church I used to have rammed down me throat when I were a nipper, I would have remembered if it was that Laughing

I think what I am thinking of is part of the Ring, maybe Wagner.

I'm rather fond of La Donna e Mobile.
Especially when sung by Pavarotti and Elephants

I can't remember the name of the film, but there is a FANTASTIC fight scene which runs for the entirety of La Donna e Mobile. Incredible.

Yeah but in the second 15-seconds, the drum starts in, bang bang bang ... yeah. And then after 30 secs, it starts something else with them singing and the drum is still there, bang bang bang, extremely rousing.

In fact ... that's an EXCELLENT version of it. Its probably the most spine-tingling version I've heard. I've not noticed before how different orchestras or conductors make a difference to pieces of music. But ... hmmm. Might have to start paying attention.

My little sister. She gets loads of crap from me skitting her and the like.
she has been all over Europe and won loads of stuff. She has been taught in Italy France and Germany by some of the top people. It is all tosh to me, but the people in the opera circles thinks she has promise. Cow earns a fortune as well.
