 |
|
I've been a habitual weed smoker for around 15 years, and a cigarette smoker for around the last 5 years.
I average around a quarter to a half ounce of skunk per week, and around 10 - 15 ciggies a day (Marlboro reds).
Well, since Sunday i've knocked it all on the head and just quit - fuck me, it's hard work!!
Life seems boring and empty without being stoned most of the time (how else can BCF be tolerable??), and the habits i've developed over the years are already proving difficult.
Finished work early today and decided to go fishing for a while as it was such a nice afternoon. All i could think about was how much i'd have liked to spark up a nice big fatty and lain back on the towpath to watch the world pass me by.
I came soooooooo close to paying a visit to 'the man' on my way home, i keep trying to rationalise it to myself 'well, i could just have one.......' etc etc.
Any suggestions? ____________________ Space Monkey #7

Not really.
I just knocked fags on the head last Halloween, and the joints kinda went the same way, until I realised I could smoke them without tobacco
But then there's no way I was smoking that amount of weed, so I don't usually miss it (with or without tobacco) for a REALLY long time.
Sorry, not much help.
But keep it up, cos you'll be quite pleased you did, once you get past the My God I Neeeeeeeeeeeeeeed It stage ...
Days and days go by and suddenly I realise "Crikey, I haven't even thought about having a fag for ages." ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |

1/4-1/2 ounce a week?!?!! Never been at that stage.
I always go though phases at uni of smoking once a week, then twice and soon enough its everyday. Stays there for up to a month usually and to be honest I cannot give it up untill I really want to.
I dont mean it would be nice, once i woke up at 4am and the only thing to get back to sleep was having a joint which scared the shit out of me and could give it up.
I think something Bonny once said on another thread about it being a bit of a wasters drug really hits home, a few people i know how messed their education and now no longer a uni. ____________________ 99 RS125 --> 02 SV650s --> 03 Speed Four --> 92 RXS100 --> 93 CB400sf --> 01 CB600f Hornet |

i agree with bat
when your thinking about going out and buying some fags or weed, take the money, put it in a jar and you'll probably be so happy with the amount your saving you wont even notice not smoking
or you could always occupy yourself by reading a book, playing counter strike, or eating something like ice cubes ____________________ Previous Bike: ZXR 400

I have found something that has replaced weed for about a week now.
Its a legal drug that you can buy of a site, its called . . Salvia, you have to smoke it in a bong and using a turbo lighter. It gives you a crazy like trip feeling for like 5 minuted then just goes. When i have ran out i shall be back to the good stuff though
Look it up, its funky shit ____________________ Current bike .. The police stole it

It can take a few months to get the nic out your system.
go to ash.com website and see what it all means.
Beware the 'friend' who temps you with a fag.
You will need support and help to get off the bastart not stupidity from losers.

I am now '5 years later', it was the best thing I ever did.
When I quit smoking (about 10 fags a day and as much weed as you) I started to exercise, bought a cheap 2nd hand road bike from ebay and started cycling.
I started off doing probably no more than 2k rides, virtually flat. When I came back from the first one I was totally destroyed, just collapsed on the floor. Now I can do 80k rides, with 20k climbs.
Point that I'm making is that if you change nothing other than the smoking then it is easy to fall back into it, especially with weed, since when you smoke weed you don't really do much! Without it you would just be bored 'doing' the same things.
Exercise is perfect for filling that void, since it quickens your physical improvement and well being, plus it helps keep the weight under control.
Oh, and one last thing, if you have bother with the nicotine addiction, and start again, read Allan Carrs' "The only way to stop smoking". Worked for me, the missus and at least two others who have read it. |

i have been quit now since new years eve, and i havnt touched a single fag, and im using nothing but will power!
i thought the same though, evrything just seemed boring and had no purpose without smoking, but am soon realising that it was just smoking which was sad, and you arranged your life around your next fag.
TBH im still gagging for one now even after 2 months, but am trying to focus on other things like getting fit (not that im not already!) thinking of joining the local rowing club...
the only thing that is bothering me about quitting is that i think im putting on weight, and i dont want to as i wont fit in my 800 quid leathers this summer
keep with it ____________________ random twat!

Keep a pack of fags in the house or car. Then it is you deciding you aren't having one rather than wanting one and not being able to get it.
If you aren't smoking because you can't easily get hold of a fag, you haven't stopped, you just can't get any.
That may just be my own mentality.
Find an activity to get buried in. Something simple but important...
When someone offers you a cigarette:
DON'T SAY - no thanks. I've quit
DO SAY - no thanks. I don't smoke
And stay strong!

Im looking to stop again soon.
I stoped for a year when I was pregnant with my son.
Not through choise but I would be ill if I even if I took a few puffs.
Sadly I started again soon after he was born.
I stoped for around 2-3 months in 2007 - I done this for myself, partner (as they hated the smell of smoke) and Josh again.
But after a few beers out came the smokes.
Im on a diet at the moment, last time I stoped smoking I put on the weight so I wont stop just yet
i will do tho - altho my willpower is very weak |

my grandads really ill at the moment through smoking, and he's only like 76, he can barely move without getting out of breath because one of his lungs in knackered and the other one is getting there too,
so this kinda put my life into perspective and kicked me up the arse to stop,
otherwise that will be you one day ____________________ random twat!
