Hi

One for every day of the year might be getting to the point of being excessive.

Currently between myself and Charlotte we have 24 bikes that are either on the road or likely to be again at some point. The actual number on the road varies (at the moment I think it is 4, but 1 more only needs tax and could get another half a dozen on the road with little more than batteries and MOTs). Also a few more floating around for spares.

For those who say you can only ride one at a time, just ask how many CDs they have. After all they can only listen to one at a time.

All the best

Keit

At one point I had 5 bikes between me and the ex - GPZ750R/1000RX, AJS 350, CB250RS, CB400/4, GS500E. Having the GPZ for an everyday bike and the AJS for bimbling and rallies seemed like a good balance, with the 250 as a backup and the CB400/4 as a project.

It's a bit hard justifying more than one when you're out of work Smile

[edit] Just remembered, it was 6 - there was a CM200 rat in pieces tucked away in the corner of the garage Smile

I've got four, I've had as many as five at any one time but five (for me) is too many because they take up all of the useable space in my single garage. I believe G has seven at the moment. In a single garage. Plus Dusty's bike.

We have downgradede the number of bikes owned between us quite a bit in the last year or so.

I currently have 2, both roadworthy & road legal, one is new, shiny and special (VS800) the other is my everyday hack (550 Zephyr).

The OH also has 2 currently on the road & legal for the same reasons (Vmax & XJ600).

He also has 2 more that just need tax and/or MOT to make them rideable (XS650 & 900 Daytona).

He's now down to just 2 projects in the shed (XS650 and some little 125 suzuki thing that has never been registered for road use) but still has a lot of other bits cluttering the place up, probably enough fo at least another 2-3 bikes in total lol!

It is a total pain, made worse by it being totally pointless and even worse by the DVLA threats of out of proportion fines if they forget or they lose the paperwork.

All the best

The answer is obvious: Two more than you've already got.

My 'mate' T@m's got nine I think and I've got eight myself (one on the road), but, although the bedroom is pretty full of them right now, I've only got one in the lounge, so I'm still on the lookout for more.

True, but how many are still in one piece - it seems that dismantling and 'fixing' often takes priority over riding them!

I reckon the answer is, when you can't get them all off the 'Tax-Applicable' road..
