Oil filter is underneath the front of the crankcase on the right hand side of the bike if that makes any sense. Once you are underneath the engine it stands out like a sore thumb anyway.
Tappet clearances:
Inlet - 0.12mm (0.005in)
Exhaust - 0.16mm (0.006in)
Balancer shaft chain adjustment - Best explained with this image

What to watch out for? Erm, to be honest im no expert (only had my 400 since november) but the only problems ive had is a fuel tank infested with crap which is easily solved by POR-15, worn sprocket circlip and cush drives and it used to burn oil and the head gasket was on its way out. All of which are now solved and were quite cheap fixes (gasket set and new rings). Ive also heard the cam-chains rattle when worn and are then best of changed if the adjuster is knackered. Not really sure of what else to say other than considering how old they are anythings possible ____________________ 1980 Suzuki TS50 ~ 1984 Honda CB400N ~ 1992 Triumph Trident ~ 1998 Suzuki Bandit 1200 |

Yeah on mine the cushdrive is pretty slack even though the C+S is in good shape.
I didn't know the CM bikes used a superdream engine!

Its a really good site for 'dreams actually. Lots of helpful stuff on there, I actually found it on BCF as it happens. (I think the owner/a member posted the link on Kals thread) ____________________ 1980 Suzuki TS50 ~ 1984 Honda CB400N ~ 1992 Triumph Trident ~ 1998 Suzuki Bandit 1200 |
