I picked up a 250 SDream yesterday and so far have had no luck tracking down a manual (and no cash to get one!!).

Could you help enlighten me with the following:

Oil Filter Location

Tappet Clearances

Balancer shaft chain adjustment

Anything else to watch out for???

Cheers,

Rich

PS, Stinkwheel you've been PM'd for you fine advice on the SD camchain

Oil filter is underneath the front of the crankcase on the right hand side of the bike if that makes any sense. Once you are underneath the engine it stands out like a sore thumb anyway.

Tappet clearances:

Inlet - 0.12mm (0.005in)
Exhaust - 0.16mm (0.006in)

Balancer shaft chain adjustment - Best explained with this image

What to watch out for? Erm, to be honest im no expert (only had my 400 since november) but the only problems ive had is a fuel tank infested with crap which is easily solved by POR-15, worn sprocket circlip and cush drives and it used to burn oil and the head gasket was on its way out. All of which are now solved and were quite cheap fixes (gasket set and new rings). Ive also heard the cam-chains rattle when worn and are then best of changed if the adjuster is knackered. Not really sure of what else to say other than considering how old they are anythings possible Laughing Thumbs Up

Thanks very much for the info!

Is that do you have a pdf of that manual or is that a scanned page,

after several hours searching I managed to get a manual courtesy of mattspratt only.... its in German!!!

So if you have a pdf of that manual Id be very grateful if you could PM if you can send it to me.

Anyway, I cleaned air filter today and tried to adjust camchain with the "manual assist" method of pushing the tensioner with a screwdriver. Brakes binding but bleed nipple sheared so its off to get a bleedy banjo tomorrow.

Cheers, Rich

Yeah on mine the cushdrive is pretty slack even though the C+S is in good shape.

I didn't know the CM bikes used a superdream engine!
