How many things at the moment are wrong with your bike?

I am thinking, and theirs so much that needs doing on mine, just i have no money.

I need to:

Balence the wheels
fix the carbs and air box
clutch
new pads front and back very soon
new discs front and back soon
sprokets and chain soon
front tyre

and their just the things to keep it running legal and sweet, and theirs all the thing i want to do like brieded hoses and such.....

My bike take so much out of my bank account its unbelivable.

What have you lot got to do?

I need the seals replacing on the left shock. That's all that needs doing. I'll live with it 'til I get new shocks next year. Smile

speedo & rev counter bulbs need replacing - can't be assed, plus it improves your night riding by not looking at them all the time Wink

My carbs need balancing but I don't have time just now.

I've done pretty much everything else over the last few months.

I need to fix the gearbox oil leak and maybe change the gearing to suit the new expansion chamber. Its got a shedload more midrange but now doesn't quite rev out in top. Lowered gearing should allow it to do so. It also needs a port polish and a new air filter has been sitting on my sofa for six months.

Trumpet
Well, it works and nothing needs doing that I am aware of. I would like to junk the clip ons and put flat bars on it though.

LC It needs the freshly skimmed rear wheel balancing and fitting and then it should be ready for an MOT.

Valve

Hmm. Chassis is OK and it has an MOT, but the engine has a death rattle. Needs a full rebuild so I plan to take the engine down to Stan Stephens tomorrow morning.

Rear tyre is concerningly low in the centre, crappy oem tyres as far as I know, so fair enough..

C&S probably needs doing..

Could use a power commander too!

ZX10R: Engine buggered, need to replace all bodywork too.

ZXR750: RH front indicator came off (means the RH rear doesn't flash either), clutch slipping occasionally when giving it the beans.

Could right a books worth of stuff i need to do!

Arrow Carbs balance
Arrow Fix leak from oil sump gasket
Arrow New oil filter
Arrow New bulb in clocks
Arrow Have no front brake dust seals at all!
Arrow Have no front brake switch
Arrow Front tyre verging on illegaly low
Arrow Rear tyre has an un-nerving cut across the width of it
Arrow Front right indicator has no orange lense bit and is in the process of falling off
Arrow Rear right indicator in the process of falling off
Arrow Both end cans leaking very badly
Arrow Need a new cush drive
Arrow I dont think my licence plate light works.
Arrow Need to check valve clearences idealy, no idea when they were last done.
Arrow Need to put proper anti-freeze in the rad instead of just boiled water.
Arrow Need to either change or tighten up the head race bearings
Arrow Both brake levers bent, although both perfectly useable.
Arrow Neither brake is very strong, slows down well enough to be honest, but no real bite to them.

Anyway, i have no money to sort any of those problems so i will just have to live with them and hope i dont get pulled over any time soon i guess.

Arrow Check the headlamp aim, I get flashed at night even when on low beam. MOT's due next month, so it's something I actually must do.
Arrow Due for an oil change. Might do that next week.
Arrow Although the braking's fine, I should get some new pads up front as they are getting low.
Arrow Probably should check the head bearings, felt an ever so slight donk during the week.
Arrow Speedo sometimes sticks until I go over 30. Thought that had gone away, but it did it again this week.
Arrow One of the bolts holding the air filter cover on had to be drilled out when I last changed the filter, so it's now being held on by cable ties and duct tape. Cosmetic, but would be nice to sort.
Arrow One bulb in the tacho has gone. Cosmetic.

Nothing an afternoon of pottering in the garage wouldnt cure.

New chain and sprockets.
Backlight in the speedo doesn't work.
Trip counter resets itself every time I turn the ignition off.
Carbs balancing.
Valve clearances checking.
Ohlins rear shock needs a service.

Would like to powdercoat the wheels and fit some R1 USD's and a few carbon bits.

My Right fork dust seal appears to be made of masking tape which has been painted black...

Other than than, the GPX has its original rear shock, which is well past best, and is cosmetically not in A1 condition.

TBH though, i'll do the dust seals when i get around to it, and i doubt i'll have the bike much more than another year, so will just clean it up as best i can, and move onto something a little bit bigger.
