I got my 99' hornet 600 about 6 months ago after passing my test and am getting abit tired of the restrictor.

I can get the tank and airbox off but dont really know what to do with the carbs.

Ive heard from some people that they need re-jetting after youve taken the restrictors out??? dont know if this is true.

If this isnt true then has anyone got any knowledge of derestricting hornets?

want to do it on the quiet so parents dont find out. haha.

Might be best giving m0l0t0v a personal message.

I seem to remember him having his derestricted... although I'm not sure if he ever had any in Laughing

Worth a try either way.

They shouldn't need rejetting if the kit's been fitted properly, and you just need to remove the washers from the inlet rubbers. At least that's the type I've come across.

It's not a massive job.

ahh yeah it turns out what ive been hearing is wrong Laughing

so basically i :-

1. take the tank off.
2. take the airbox off.
3. undo the carburettors and lift them up gently.
4. ease the 4 big washers out of the holes.
5. put carbs back
6. put airbox back
7. put tank on.

is that right??
it sounds right but i want to be 100% before trying it. Smile

Pretty much.

The washers aren't in the actual carbs themselves, they sit between the carbs and the engine in the rubbers.

The washers will be a very tight fit in the inlet rubbers. Thumbs Up

Agreed, those carb rubbers can be an absolute arse. I had loads of difficulty with my CBR, which has the same engine as yours.

You can try a little lubrication with some WD40, it seems to make things a bit easier.

Thumbs Up

In case you have a restricted CDI. Wink

There are different methods to restrict, some are just washers, and some are by the CDI, some are a combination of the two.

Depends on the method used on yours.
