 |
|
So I have taken the plunge and put the 'Four on ebay at £2200 which isn't unrealistic when you see similar ones up for around this.
Being a Sunday evening (went up about 5.30pm) was expecting to get a few calls about the bike over the week and hopefully a few viewings.
But no, already I have had 3 offers which have been at least £400+ under the asking.
Now I understand you haggle but ebay seems to be full of chancers and according to ebay you can only have 10 offer (this correct??) of which I have had 3 and its not even 24 hours of:
£1600
£1400
£1695
Anyone else used ebay classified ads? Did it work for you? ____________________ 99 RS125 --> 02 SV650s --> 03 Speed Four --> 92 RXS100 --> 93 CB400sf --> 01 CB600f Hornet |

Im having similar trouble with ebay. Selling my car tho. I was expecting a bit of interest but to be honest its been an utter waste of time so far. Ive had one person come to view who was clearly a time waster, and then an utter dickhead who used the best offer function to make an offer of £500. The car was listed for £2200. Seems ebay is ripe for utter dickheads when it comes to trying to sell a vehicle. Bare in mind I have had nearly a thousand people view my advert and had only one offer and one viewer.
It seems ebay is used as a portal for people trying to achieve a ridiculous bargain hence if you really want what your motor is worth, spend a bit more and advertise elsewher IMO.

I had this selling my wife's virago the last week.
Someone asked for my number as he wanted to discuss buying it. Fair enough I thought. When he called he demanded I sell it too him for £800 (BIN was £950), he got most pi$$ed off when I said no, the BIN is £950. In the end he was shouting down the phone at me.
Needless to say I further declined, hung up and banned him from bidding. And in the end it sold for £985
Ebay has definitely become a tw@t magnet. |

To avoid having to refuse stupid bids, I use the 'auto decline bids below £X' option when selling BIN/BO.
Not sure if the auto declines count as one of your 10 though, as I wasn't even aware there was a limit. ____________________ CBR125|||GSXR400|||CBR400|||CBR400|||CB250RS|||GSXR750|||CB250RS

This is how I sell, start low, no reserve and, if necessary, pull the auction before the last 24 hours. What tends to happen is that buyers see it cheap and start to imagine their life with your bike in it. By the end of the auction, they want it so bad that they end up paying over the odds.
I sold my mountain bike, that cost me £2500 (but with loads of extras so realistically £2300), after 18 months of use. It was clean and in perfect nick but I was surprised when it went for £1650, I started that at £100 and it had over 100 people watching it by the end.
Cheers

sold my cbr this way, had it up for £2500, stuck it up for a month, like you had some aweful offers, just ignored them mostly
few days gone a guy phoned wanting to see the bike, i sold out of ebay to this dutch fella, cash in hand etc, pulled it off ebay and the £13 or whatever fee it was, i had £10 of it refunded as it was only up for a week or so
so sold the cbr for £3 fees all in
sold it for £2380 plus i kept £30 odd worth of tax as he was exporting it
i would use it again, if only to let people see the bike and take the sale out of ebay |

Having both bought and sold bikes on eGay, I can see both sides.
Yes, the dreamers and chancers giving stupid offers is frustrating when you're a seller, but as a buyer you desperately want a bargain, it's what the site has a reputation for.
Often the bike you want is not within viewing distance (I bought both CBR's blind - one from Wakefield, one from Aberdeen!), so in taking a chance you try to minimise the risk by offering as low as possible. ____________________ CBR125|||GSXR400|||CBR400|||CBR400|||CB250RS|||GSXR750|||CB250RS
