Yes I know ANOTHER ebay thread but this is the first time I have had any trouble and really could do with some advice.

I sold some brand new apple earphones on ebay, you cant charge for postage on apple earphones so sent them stanard (was stated in ad).

Buyer claims they never arrived and I didnt get a 'Proof of Postage' as always post recorded so other than a receipt for £1.08 postage I have no proof (stupid I know).

Buyer seems to know alot about how much I'm entitled to when claiming back off royal mail and TBH i reckon hes full of shit and pulling a fast one:

Buyer wrote:
Hi, just letting you know that i have not recieved the earphones yet.

- might-be-tight

I said they have been sent and should have been there now

Buyer wrote:

I assume you have proof of posting, in which case
you should take this up with Royal Mail.

- might-be-tight

I said they should have been with him a while ago.

Buyer wrote:
If it arrives i'll let you know asap.
If you do have proof of posting you can make a claim for upto £30.00 apparently, as long as ther is a certificate of postage stamped by the P.O.

- might-be-tight

Mentioned I dont have any proof.

Buyer wrote:
It has been nearly three weeks since i made
payment, and i still have not recieved my
purchase. The onus is on you to take this up with
Royal Mail.
I do not think i will ever see these earphones, and
it is only fair that you issue me with a full
refund, i think have been very patient here.

This is the last email. Its really annoying as I put recorded in the postage but ebay wouldnt let me charge for it so was send standard.

What would you do? It was done through paypal so can a dispute be set up with them?

Any help greatly appriciated Thumbs Up

Whats his feedback like ???

Yea good question. Its 100% so maybe im wrong and it didnt get to him, something that costs £7.50 wouldnt be worth ruining your feedback on would it?

So what do I do now? No proof I sent it, can he claim on paypal?

Yes, he can claim through Paypal if you don't have proof of delivery. Even if he has 100% feedback it means nothing these days as sellers are no longer able to leave negative feedback.

My bet is that he's received them , noticed that he hasn't had to sign for them and knows full well that he will get a refund through Paypal. Royal Mail insures Recorded Delivery items up to £34, but as you haven't sent by Recorded you may be entitled to nothing, but it's worth checking with Royal Mail as I think there is a procedure (might be wrong but nothing to lose by checking).

I think he has been quite resonable there. I am a buyer on ebay and things dont get to me sometimes and sellers usually tell me they are unsured with royal mail thats how I know that you can claim ( I dont know how that works) I have had to get refunds after waiting for stuff that never came.

There is also a number now you call ebay cs and they will just refund the customer, thats what happened when I waited 6 weeks on something I never recieved.

You will be refunding either way, if you do ebay/paypal.

last year. You can only leave positive but there is no way of stopping you writting in something beside that positive. Buyers have to wait 14 days i think to leave bad feedback to allow time to sort things with seller.

Thanks for the help guys. Have just sent this, reckon it could be better but I reckon its going to be a case of taken a negative feedback on this one Confused

Hi,

Due to ebay not letting you charge for postage I nievely posted this standard as since this is the first thing I have sent non-recorded a proof of postage was not asked for (I was unware that you had to ask for it as I never send standard).

Therefore I am very sorry to hear that you did not recieve your item, you have my word it was sent and as my 100% feedback shows why would I not send something that only sold for £7.50 when at the same time I sold a motorbike exhaust for £110 which arrived with the buyer.

I think the best course of action is for you to set up a dispute with paypal to get the money back from this as I will not get any money from the Royal Mail.

Please can you inform me if the item does arrive

Thanks

Andy

This whole not being able to charge a reasonable fee for postage is going to kill ebay.
I wanted to sell some memory out of a laptop.
Now no way am i sending it anything other than Recorded... Can you charge the £1.50 fee.... Which is what it costs.
Not a hope in hell.
Ebay says P+P free....

I've tried always to do it.

Yet there are sellers with P+P....

So stuff ebay. I just gave it to someone at work for a quid....

I just tried to sell a (fictional) pair and you can not add P&P Shocked .
If you list them as clothing you can though.
