On my way to work today, had done about 4 miles engine fully warmed up. Started to slow down for traffic lights, felt like it lost all power like running on 2/3 cylinders. Stopped at the lights and it just cut straight out. Pushed to the side of the road. Turns overs strongly, fuel in the tank and it [drunk] out of the fuel pipe when I disconected the tank. Checked the middle 2 plugs and they have a spark.
Still won't start.
Also have had a problem from cold with a misfire. Which is down to how much you open the throttle open it slow and steady its fine, whack it open, it misfires. But once the engine is fully warmed up it goes and causes no problems.
Dont suppose its linked in anyway, no idea what causes it, just learned to ride around it.
Any ideas? 99 R6 btw.

Fist thing to do is to test the other 2 cylinders for sparks.

How rapidly does it turn over? If it is with excessive ease, then you might have burnt the valves out ... Shocked

Checked them now, sparks fine.
Turns over normally doesn't seem faster than usual anyway.

If you have 4 good sparks, then it isn't the ignition ..

So you are looking at the carbs next.

What is odd is how it won't start at all ... even if one had gone down, I'd expect it to run on 3 ... for all 4 carbs to go down at once is hard to believe.

Anyhoo, is it possible the carbs have come out of the inlet rubbers???

I think the next step is to go in and have a look at the carbs anyway ...

In ALL 4 carbs at once??? .... not convinced ...

But you need to get into the carbs and have a looksee either way, so you will soon find out!!! Smile
