Is there anyway to tell if a spark plug is failing/getting old,dirty etc other than taking it out and checking Question What I'm looking for is a doo-daa that can attach to the plugs whilst they are still in the engine... and indicate if they are working or not (*)

</lazyBarstard>

Also, does anyone know what those security net things are called. They enclose say you lid and can be locked... Question

My friend has a set of spark plug checkers, I think he got them from Aldi/Lidl. Check on the bay, there are some there too.

That is a small one but we have some that are a lot larger (will take a rucksack).

EDIT - Better link:-

They dont test the spark plug, only the coil/ht leads.

Cheers

Hi

As to plugs, I did a google for illuminated plug caps (used to see them, ones that flashed with the plug) but just found a load of neon plug leads.

However did see this:-

So you check all the plugs and find one bad, would you only replace that one? If your worried about plug condition change them all, far simpler, faster and lazyer than finding the information, buying the tool, testing, then replacing them all because they're old.

wrap a piece or wire around the ht lead about ten times or so, then run into a small bulb or neon may work, then out of the bulb to the neutral.

when your coil pack fires 40,000 volts down the lead you get a magnetic field that induces a current through the wire wrapped around it. that will light up the bulb.

if the bulb doesnt light up, either theres no spark, no voltage, or the contraption you just made dont work Thumbs Up

Not sure if it could cause issues if you have an ECU controlled bike though as I doubt they will be supressed?
