ATI graphic card problems

Right, getting pissed off now, theres something up with this card!
When i first played on CS:CZ and everything was fine and i had no problems, then all of a sudden, mouse lag!
Now recently my ATItool program is telling me i'm getting core: 506.25mhz and mem: 594mhz and it should be core 600 something, mem 999mhz.

It says on the ATI site i need a 30+amp PSU and this one is 22amp, I'm getting pretty paranoid its power thats lacking and causing all my problems, but could it be corrupt drivers?
Help me out please?

Download latest drivers

Uninstall current ones

Boot up in safemode and run Driver Sweeper

Reboot and install new drivers

If there's no difference then you've ruled out corrupt drivers.

Makes sense that it's the psu, as soon as the card is loaded enough the clock speeds drop to what the psu can handle.

It only has one power suply to plug to, Mister gixer, When can you send?
EDIT: Looks like the 30A on your PSU mister gixer is on the 5v rail i need a 30A 12V rail

The power doesn't have to all come from one rail. Multiple lower powered rails that total over your required amps is sufficient. Each 6 pin connector does not have a dedicated rail to it.

how does that work? This is extremely confusing now, ATI says i need a 12v 30A 500w PSU to power the card that is the system requirement i have a 500w psu that produces 22A max

Has your supply got one or multiple rails? (+12v1 +12v2 etc?)

mistergixers supply is plenty and more for your card. If it doesn't work for you I'll take it.

The way I understood it is that you take the combined 12V rail output to be (roughly) the rating, e.g.

1 x 12V @ 22A = 22A psu
2 x 12V @ 18A = 36A psu
2 x 12V @ 25A = 50A psu

In the PSU world, you do get what you pay for, so a branded 500W model is likely to be better than a 750W unbranded chinese one.

To pass the time, feed your system specs into this PSU calculator:

and see what it suggests.

couldnt really get to grips with that bazza im really a novice at this sort of thing, SOND well my psu is 5v = 24a 3.3v = 24a 12V1=22a 12v2=22a -12v=0.8a 55vsb=2.5a.

What am i missing?

Its like i've bought a female card, It stays fixed once booted so no drops.

Boots up either on full or like half, once i booted the pc up and the screen wouldnt show anything.

Driver issue then? I'm running usb mouse, external soundcard, wireless connector, urm, 2 hdds, dvd rw/cd rw(1 drive) its a 3-4yr old pc running AMD 3700 939 socket 3 gig ram, xp sp3 home

cant think of anything else, must be driver issue then? i dunno
Is there anyway i could of connected the PSU up wrong like mixed rails or something?

its plugged into the pci-e slot as much as possible and all the other cables are clipped into the mobo and the pci-e 6 cable is plugged in perficly i'll pull it apart after work tommorow.

Right, i've reformatted my pc like suggested by HETZ and tbh, so far, i've not had anyproblems at all, not a single dead pixel, no failures, even counter strike runs like a dream.
So, HETZ i love you man. x

you do realise ati cards downclock themselves when not in use as do alot of Nvidia cards to save power. as for the whoel 30A neede i wouldnt worry to much. ran a 8800gtx of a 350w psu with 12A for 2 years.


i would say buy a decent branded PSU but it would be worth more than your pc and seem rather poitnless

im running a 9500GT on 450W, its below the current min specs for the card, but ive never had it fail and its definitely been stressed.
